Perimenopause and Women’s Hormonal Health: A Nurse Practitioner’s Perspective in Minneapolis

1/19/2026

Perimenopause is one of the most misunderstood stages of women’s health. Subtle shifts in hormones can affect how the body feels and functions long before menopause is ever mentioned. In this article, we explore what perimenopause looks like, why it is so often overlooked, and how informed care can change how this transition is experienced.

Perimenopause: The Most Overlooked Hormonal Transition In Women's Health

Picture
As a Nurse Practitioner, I have spent years sitting across from women who cannot quite explain what has changed, only that something feels different.

For many women, their bodies begin to shift quietly in their late 30s or early 40s. Sleep becomes lighter or more fragmented. Energy feels less predictable. Mood feels harder to regulate. Stress that once felt manageable suddenly feels heavier. The body stops responding the way it once did, even when effort, routines, and intention have not changed.

These women are often high functioning, thoughtful, and deeply in tune with their bodies. And yet, they arrive feeling confused and discouraged because no one has named what they are experiencing.

Perimenopause rarely arrives with clarity or acknowledgment. There is no clear starting point, no routine screening, and very little education offered around what this transition actually looks like. Because the changes happen gradually, women are often left to interpret them on their own. Many assume they are personal shortcomings or temporary phases they should be able to manage with more discipline or better habits.

What makes perimenopause especially overlooked is not just how common it is, but how early it begins. This transition can start years before menopause and years before it is ever recognized. During that time, hormone levels fluctuate unpredictably, affecting sleep quality, metabolism, mood, cognition, and emotional regulation. Yet many women are told their labs look normal or that this is simply part of getting older.

From a clinical perspective, this matters deeply.

Perimenopause is not a waiting period before menopause. It is a critical window where long term health trajectories are shaped. How the body adapts during this transition influences metabolic health, inflammatory patterns, skin aging, emotional resilience, and overall quality of life in the decades that follow.

I see what happens when this window is missed. Women spend years trying to force their bodies back into patterns that no longer fit. They double down on strategies that once worked and feel discouraged when results do not follow. Over time, that discouragement turns inward. They begin questioning their resilience, their consistency, and their ability to cope.

Waiting is not neutral. When symptoms are minimized or dismissed, women are left without context or guidance. They continue pushing through approaches that no longer work without understanding why.

Perimenopause changes the rules. What supported the body in the past may stop working, not because effort has decreased, but because the hormonal environment has shifted. Expecting willpower to override biology is outdated medicine.

This is why perimenopause deserves attention earlier, deeper understanding, and care that treats it as the meaningful health transition it is.
If any part of this resonates, you do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

At Magnolia, we offer complimentary conversations for women navigating perimenopause who are looking for thoughtful, informed guidance. Simply a chance to talk through what you are experiencing, ask questions, and understand what kind of support might actually make sense for your body and your life.

Perimenopause can feel confusing when you are trying to navigate it alone. Having a conversation with a provider who understands the physiology and sees this season of life every day can bring clarity and relief. If you are ready to explore what support could look like, we would be honored to connect with you. You can schedule a complimentary conversation with Michelle through the link on our website.

It means a great deal to be able to walk alongside women during this season of life.

Why Perimenopause Care Is Failing Women and How We Need to Do Better

Picture
As a Nurse Practitioner, one of the most troubling patterns I see is how often women in perimenopause are treated for symptoms without anyone addressing the hormonal transition driving them.

Women come in having been prescribed anxiety medications, sleep aids, or antidepressants with little discussion about hormonal shifts. Mood changes, disrupted sleep, heightened anxiety, irritability, and emotional volatility are often framed as stress or mental health issues, rather than recognized as part of a broader physiological transition.

Perimenopause directly affects neurotransmitters, sleep architecture, stress hormones, and emotional regulation. When estrogen and progesterone fluctuate, the brain responds. The nervous system responds. The body adapts. Treating these changes without acknowledging hormones is incomplete care.

I want to be clear. Mental health support matters, and medications can play an important role when appropriate. But when we bypass the hormonal conversation entirely, we miss the root cause for many women. That delay prolongs symptoms and reinforces the belief that something is wrong with them rather than recognizing what their body is signaling.

Another critical issue is how often women are told their labs look normal. Perimenopause is not always reflected in standard lab ranges. Hormones fluctuate day to day and month to month during this transition. Normal results do not always mean optimal function, especially when symptoms are persistent and progressing.

This is often the point where women lose trust in the medical system. They feel dismissed, unheard, and unsure where to turn next. Many begin managing symptoms on their own, experimenting with supplements, diets, or protocols without guidance, hoping something will finally help.

Perimenopause deserves a different approach.

It requires listening closely to symptoms, understanding patterns over time, and viewing hormones as part of a connected system that includes stress, metabolism, inflammation, sleep, and lifestyle. It requires providers who are willing to slow down, ask better questions, and offer individualized care rather than one-size-fits-all solutions.

This season of life is not something to medicate away, minimize, or ignore until menopause arrives. It is a meaningful transition that deserves informed, proactive, and compassionate care.

When women are given clarity and context, everything changes. They stop blaming themselves. They stop fighting their bodies. And they begin making decisions rooted in understanding rather than frustration.

That is the standard of care women deserve during perimenopause.

Final Encouragement

As the year begins, I hope this guide serves as a reminder that meaningful care does not require an overhaul. It starts with understanding, intention, and support that feels steady rather than overwhelming.

This season is not about doing more. It is about paying attention to what your body is asking for and responding thoughtfully. Small, well-informed choices have a way of creating momentum when they are rooted in clarity instead of pressure.

Take what resonates here, leave what doesn’t, and trust that you are allowed to move forward at a pace that feels sustainable for you right now.

holiday self-care gift guide: skincare, wellness, & meaningful gifts for women

What I'm Gifting This Season

(and Why It Actually Matters)

Picture
This week before Christmas always feels a little tender.

The holidays are close enough to feel, but not quite here yet. Calendars are full, emotions are layered, and many women I talk to are holding a lot at once. Joy, pressure, anticipation, and fatigue. It’s a season filled with meaning, but it can also quietly ask more of us than we realize.

This moment isn’t asking you to do more.
It’s asking you to slow down just enough to notice what actually feels supportive.

Not what’s trending.
Not what January will demand.
But what helps you feel grounded, cared for, and a little more like yourself, right now.

That’s the place this guide comes from.

Instead of a soapbox or a lesson, I wanted to share something personal. A collection of gifts I genuinely love giving because they bring comfort, beauty, and calm into everyday life. These are the kinds of gifts that don’t add more noise. They help people exhale.

So glad to share this season with you,

Michelle's Holiday Gift Guide

The things I love giving (and truly love receiving)

Cashmere sweaters (always)
I will never stop gifting cashmere. It’s timeless, soft, and quietly luxurious. It’s something many people don’t buy for themselves, but once they have it, they reach for it constantly. Winter walks, travel days, dinners out, slow mornings at home.
Cashmere feels like comfort without trying too hard. And that’s a feeling I love to give.

Perfume (when it feels personal and is made thoughtfully)
I love gifting perfume when it truly matches the person. Scent becomes memory. Mood. Presence. The right fragrance feels like a signature. Something that grounds you and reminds you who you are. When chosen thoughtfully, perfume isn’t just a gift. It’s an experience someone carries with them.

Linnea candles (my favorite)
Linnea candles are one of my go-to gifts every year. They burn clean, smell beautiful without being overpowering, and instantly soften a space. Lighting a candle is a small ritual, but it signals permission to pause. Something many of us need more of right now. Perfect for hosts, teachers, friends, or anyone who could use a moment of calm.

And you'll find these candles available right here at Magnolia if you’re stopping by in the days leading up to the holidays.

Calming meditation oil (the kind with flowers in it)
This is one of my favorite small but powerful gifts. A calming meditation oil, especially one infused with flowers, turns an ordinary moment into a ritual. A drop on the wrists. A breath before bed. A pause before a busy day. It’s a reminder that care doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective.

Cookbooks that take you far away
I love gifting cookbooks that feel like travel. Not intimidating or overly complex ones, but books that transport you. Different cultures, flavors, and stories.Something you can flip through on a quiet afternoon and feel inspired, even if you never cook every recipe. They invite curiosity, creativity, and a sense of escape, which feels especially good this time of year.

Prakash Organics Body Oil
This is one of my favorite things to gift because it feels genuinely nourishing.
It absorbs beautifully, leaves skin soft and supported, and gives that healthy glow without feeling heavy. It’s especially good in the winter when skin needs a little extra care.
We carry this one at Magnolia, and it’s always a favorite.

Free People PJ bottoms
If you know me, you know I love a good cozy moment, and these are that gift. Free People PJ bottoms are soft, relaxed, and effortless. They feel elevated without being fussy, and they’re the kind of thing people live in once the holidays slow down. Perfect for slow mornings, evenings on the couch, or those in-between days where comfort matters most.

Melissa Mark jewelry (meaning you can wear)

I love jewelry that feels intentional, not just pretty. Melissa Mark pieces really do that for me. Created by a Minneapolis-based physician, these designs are meant to be worn with purpose. Her pieces feel like quiet reminders of strength, alignment, and trusting yourself, especially in seasons of change. It’s the kind of jewelry you reach for without thinking because it means something.

Magnolia favorites
If you’re local, this is very much the same way we approach gifting at Magnolia.

We’ve put together a collection of curated gift bags this season for those moments when you want to give something thoughtful without overthinking it. Simple, supportive pieces, including Prakash Organics oils, Noon Starter Kits, Linnea candles, and a few of our favorite everyday wellness essentials.

Everything is chosen with the same intention behind this guide: comfort, care, and things that actually get used.
If you’re stopping by for the Linden Hills Wine & Stroll, our Open House, or visiting us in the days leading up to the holidays, we’d love to see you.

This is how I like to gift this time of year. Simple, thoughtful things that genuinely support how we feel day to day. If this list makes gifting feel easier, or reminds you to take care of yourself too, then it’s exactly why I wanted to share it.

Michelle's Ride Or Die

goop beauty Vitamin C Glow Serum

Picture
This is one I reach for because it actually works.

A lot of vitamin C serums sound great but don’t stay effective long enough to deliver real results. This one does. It’s well formulated, stable, and you can see the difference in brightness, tone, and overall skin quality with consistent use.

Vitamin C only works if it stays potent, and that’s where so many products fall short. I love the two-part system. Mixing the vitamin C powder into the serum before first use keeps it fresh and active, which is why it continues to work through the entire bottle instead of fading halfway through.

It supports glow without irritation, fits easily into a daily routine, and keeps skin looking fresh, even, and well cared for especially during winter when skin can feel dull or stressed.

Simple, reliable, and effective. That’s why it’s a ride-or-die for me this month.

Happy Glowing!
Michelle

Final Encouragement

As you head into the holidays, I hope this guide serves as a reminder that thoughtful care doesn’t have to be complicated.

Whether you’re gifting to others or choosing something for yourself, the intention behind it matters. Small, supportive choices, the kind that feel grounding and useful, have a way of carrying us through busy seasons more gently.

Take what resonates from this list, leave what doesn’t, and trust your own sense of what feels right for you right now.

Quick Fixes Are Letting Women Down. Comprehensive Care Can Change That.

The Holiday Quick Fix Trap

Why Real Weight Loss Takes More Than a Shot

Picture
Every holiday season, there’s a surge of “quick fixes.”
A shot. A patch. A subscription refill. A promise that you can bypass biology and magically feel better by the weekend.

And while convenience can be helpful, it’s rarely the whole story. Your body doesn’t want shortcuts. It wants support. It wants someone to understand the full picture, not just one symptom in isolation.

Over the last month, I’ve had more and more women reach out feeling discouraged after trying Him & Hers-style care. One woman told me she never even spoke to her provider. She clicked through an online questionnaire, waited for a refill, tried to troubleshoot symptoms through customer service, and still wasn’t getting answers. Not one person was looking at her full picture. Not one person was looking at her hormones, her inflammation, her perimenopause changes, her sleep, her stress, or her nutrition. No one was connecting the dots for her.

That’s the gap.
That’s where personalized, relationship-based care truly makes the difference.

And just to be clear... treatments like Botox, chemical peels, SkinPen, and even medications that support weight, skin, or hormones absolutely belong in the conversation. I use them every day with my patients because they’re effective and they help women feel good in their skin. At Magnolia, we simply make sure they’re part of a bigger, more thoughtful plan that supports your whole body. Not a stand-alone “quick fix.”

At Magnolia, we take a comprehensive approach. We look at the whole story: your labs, your symptoms, your stress load, your energy patterns, your cycle changes, your metabolism, your goals, and your lived experience. And then we help you make sense of it. Step by step. With real guidance. From a real provider who knows your name.

This matters even more heading into the holidays, when stress, alcohol, sugar, disrupted schedules, and travel take a toll. You deserve support that lasts longer than your refill cycle.

If you’re feeling like something is “off” and want help sorting through your symptoms, I’ve opened a limited number of complimentary 15-minute calls this month so we can talk through what you’re experiencing and explore the best next steps for you.

Here’s to embracing the season together,
with care that sees your whole picture!

Why Your Weight Loss Needs More Than a Mail-Order Shot

Picture
If you've spent any time on social media, you've seen the GLP-1 Hype.

Semaglutide and tirzepatide can be incredible tools. I prescribe them when they’re the right fit and I see great results in my practice. But they are not magic. They are not a shortcut. And they are not designed to be used without real medical support.

A few weeks ago, a woman came to Magnolia after using a GLP-1 from an online subscription. She lost 25 pounds. But when she stopped, the weight returned quickly. She felt confused and defeated. During her body composition analysis, we found that most of what she lost wasn’t fat. It was lean muscle.

Her “plan” gave her a medication but offered no guidance for protein intake, strength training, metabolism support, or lifestyle balance. And when you lose muscle, your metabolism downshifts. Suddenly everything feels harder. Hunger returns. Fatigue increases. Progress stalls.

This is the piece the quick-fix companies don’t tell you.

Here’s what I tell my patients:

Medication is not magic.
It is one tool in a much bigger toolbox.

Muscle is metabolism.
You have to preserve it.

Your mindset matters.
The habits you build while on medication determine whether your progress lasts.

Accountability counts.
You need someone tracking your labs, watching for patterns, understanding the whole picture, and helping you adjust along the way.

GLP-1s can be transformative when used safely and intentionally. But without comprehensive support, they can leave you feeling more lost than before.

If you’re considering a GLP-1, please don’t do it alone. Work with someone who understands hormones, inflammation, perimenopause, and weight physiology. Work with a provider who looks at you as a whole person, not a refill cycle.

This is why we take a comprehensive approach at Magnolia. We look at your labs, body composition, symptoms, nutrition, lifestyle patterns, and hormone balance so we can support your metabolism from every angle. Medication can help you reset, but it works best when combined with strength, protein, inflammation support, and a provider who understands the full landscape of women’s health. That’s where real, lasting success happens.

Our focus is always long-term health. Protect your metabolism. Protect your muscle. Protect your future self.

glymed+ Oxygen Deep Pore Masque

I’m officially declaring this my can’t-live-without-it product of the month, and if you’ve ever struggled with blackheads, congestion, or that stubborn bumpy texture, you’re about to understand why.

This masque is pure magic. It oxygenates the skin, bubbles deep into the pores, and loosens everything that’s been hanging on for way too long. No steam. No scrubbing. No irritation. Just clearer, smoother, happier skin.

Why I’m Obsessed
It gets your pores to let go... finally! The active oxygen lifts congestion on its own, which means everything from dullness to blackheads improves without me having to be overly aggressive in treatment. And if you’ve had extractions with me, you already know: this makes them easier, quicker, and way less uncomfortable.

Who I Reach for This For
Oily or congested skin
Teens starting to break out
Adults dealing with blackheads or texture
Anyone whose skin feels dull, clogged, or blah
Clients looking for a gentle reset without drying out their barrier
Pregnant or nursing? Totally fine to use. Just stay mindful, since skin can be sensitive during this time.

How I Recommend Using It
After cleansing, apply a thin layer to your face, neck, and décolleté.
Leave on 5–10 minutes.
Rinse. Glow.
Use 2–3 times per week for best results.

If you love steam, go for it in the last 1–2 minutes…but truly, this masque doesn’t need any help.

Email Magnolia at
[email protected] to get your hands on this latest obsession. You won't regret it!

Happy Glowing!
Michelle

Normal Doesn’t Mean Optimal: Understanding Menopause, Perimenopause, and Hormone Health

Let's Turn Up The Heat On Menopause & The Myths Keeping Women Stuck!

Picture
Did you know October is National Menopause Month?

For generations, women have been told to suffer quietly through perimenopause and menopause, as if silence was strength. I’m here to remind you... quiet doesn’t heal.

It’s time to turn up the heat and start talking honestly about what’s really happening in women’s health. Menopause isn’t something to hide or “push through.” It’s something to understand, support, and move through with confidence and care.

At Magnolia Aesthetics & Wellness here in Minneapolis, we meet women every day who feel discouraged and confused. Their energy is low. Their metabolism has slowed. Sleep feels off, moods are unpredictable, and their skin doesn’t feel the same. Most have been told the same thing by their providers: “Your labs are normal.”

Let’s be honest... normal doesn’t always mean optimal.

Menopause doesn’t just show up one day and turn everything upside down. For most women, the transition begins years earlier, quietly, gradually, and often without clear answers.

That’s where the conversation needs to change.

Perimenopause: The Early Hormone Changes No One Talks About

Many women are surprised to learn that perimenopause can begin in their late 30s or early 40s. It often starts with subtle shifts in mood, sleep, energy, or weight long before your cycle changes. These early signals are your body’s way of saying your hormones are fluctuating, and it’s the perfect time to start paying attention.

I can’t tell you how many women come in saying they just don’t feel like themselves anymore. They’re doing all the right things, but something still feels off. That’s often perimenopause.

When we catch these changes early, we can take a proactive approach that supports hormone balance, protects long-term health, and helps you feel like yourself again. This is where functional and integrative care truly matter.

At Magnolia, we see perimenopause and menopause as opportunities to pause, reset, and realign your health for the years ahead. With the right testing, education, and personalized support, women can move through this season feeling clear, strong, and grounded again.

If you know me, you know I have strong feelings about this topic. So in honor of National Menopause Month, consider this my official soapbox moment.

Ending the Stigma Around Menopause

For too long, menopause has been treated like something to hide or push through quietly. Women are told to tough it out, to accept hot flashes, brain fog, and weight changes as just part of getting older. That narrative is outdated and unfair.

It’s time to change that.

At Magnolia, we want to normalize these conversations. We want women to feel empowered to talk about what’s happening in their bodies without shame or hesitation. When we understand what’s going on and have access to the right care, everything shifts.

Menopause deserves the same level of education, curiosity, and compassion that any other stage of life receives.
Let’s Talk About Your Hormones

Michelle's Soapbox

Menopause Myth Busters & The Hormone Truth You Deserve to Know

MYTH #1:
“Your labs are normal.”

REALITY: Let’s be honest... normal doesn’t always mean optimal.

So many women are told their labs are “normal” even though they feel exhausted, foggy, inflamed, and unlike themselves. “Normal” ranges are based on population averages, not what’s ideal for your individual body.

A skilled provider doesn’t just look at numbers. They look at you. The way you feel matters as much as your labs do. Optimal care means interpreting both your results and your symptoms together, and addressing root causes like hormones, inflammation, insulin, thyroid, and cortisol balance.

MYTH #2:
Menopause means your hormones stop mattering.

REALITY:
Your hormones don’t suddenly clock out. They shift, and that shift affects everything, from your mood and metabolism to your sleep, skin, and even your libido. Supporting your hormones through this transition can change how you feel, think, and age.

MYTH #3:
Hormone replacement therapy is dangerous.

REALITY: This one is long overdue for a rewrite. When prescribed safely and monitored by a qualified provider, hormone therapy can be a game changer. Balanced hormones support more than symptom relief. They protect bone density, brain health, mood, and even heart function. The key is personalization and ongoing guidance, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

MYTH #4:
Testosterone is only for men.

REALITY: Women need testosterone too. It plays a key role in focus, energy, muscle strength, and yes — libido. Low testosterone can show up as fatigue, brain fog, or a general sense of “blah.” It’s one of the most overlooked labs in women’s health, and it deserves more attention.

MYTH #5:
Weight gain in menopause is inevitable.

REALITY:
Let’s retire that story. Your metabolism might slow, but you’re not powerless. Weight changes are often connected to hormonal fluctuations, stress, and inflammation… all things we can address. With the right nutrition, movement, and support, your body can rebalance and respond again.

MYTH #6:
You just have to live with it.

REALITY: You don’t have to “tough it out” or feel disconnected from your body. There are safe, effective, and science-backed solutions that can help you feel vibrant again. From lifestyle changes and targeted supplements to hormone therapy when appropriate, there is always a way forward. At Magnolia, our approach begins with listening and looking at the full picture. We go beyond symptom management and take the time to understand what your body is trying to tell us.

When women are supported through perimenopause and menopause with the right care, everything changes. Energy, confidence, sleep, and yes, even libido.

Menopause deserves better care. And when women receive it, they thrive.

MICC Injection for Energy and Metabolism Support

Picture
If you’ve been around Magnolia for a while, you know I love tools that actually support the body, not fight against it. The MICC injection is one of those go-tos for me.

Our MICC, or Lipo-Mino mix, is a combination of nutrients that help your body convert fat into energy and support a healthy metabolism. It works together to boost energy, reduce appetite, and promote better fat metabolism.

For women in perimenopause and menopause, this can make a noticeable difference. Hormonal changes naturally slow the metabolism and make it harder to feel that same steady energy throughout the day. The MICC injection gives your system a little extra help doing what it’s already meant to do - burn fat efficiently, increase focus, and support overall energy.

It’s not a magic fix, but it’s a powerful supportive tool when used alongside a healthy diet, hydration, movement, and quality sleep. For many of my patients, one weekly injection helps them feel more energized, less sluggish, and more balanced overall.

If your metabolism feels like it’s working against you or your energy has taken a dip lately, this is a great place to start. Ask about adding MICC to your wellness routine at your next visit. It’s one of my favorite ways to help women feel stronger, more focused, and more like themselves again.

Final Encouragement

As we wrap up National Menopause Month, let this be your reminder that you don’t have to go through this season quietly. Change can feel uncertain, but it’s also an invitation... to listen to your body, to seek answers, and to care for yourself in deeper, more intentional ways.

Whether you’re noticing early shifts in perimenopause or moving through menopause itself, you deserve care that sees the whole picture. Real care. Thoughtful testing. Personalized guidance. Support that helps you feel clear, strong, and at home in your body again.

At Magnolia Aesthetics & Wellness, we’re here to walk with you through every stage of that process with compassion, expertise, and a holistic approach designed for lasting results.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to start, let this be it.

Fall Skin Reset & Whole-Body Wellness: Chemical Peels, Seasonal Skincare, and Sustainable Health in Minneapolis

9/24/2025

Picture
As we step into the first official week of fall and celebrate the equinox, I can’t help but pause and take it in. This is one of my favorite times of the year... the shift in seasons feels like an invitation to reset. Just as nature turns over a new leaf, our bodies (and our skin) benefit from rhythms of renewal too. I love leaning into these transitions, because they remind us that change can be both grounding and energizing. With that in mind, let’s talk about why fall is the perfect time for skin and whole-body wellness.

In this month’s blog, I’m diving into two things close to my heart: why fall is the perfect season to treat your skin with a chemical peel and my perspective on whole-body wellness vs. what’s trending. And at the very end, I’m also sharing my ride-or-die product pick of the month (this one truly feels like a facelift in a bottle)!

Here’s to embracing the season together!

Michelle

Why Fall is the Perfect Time for a Chemical Peel

Picture
If you’ve never had a chemical peel before, I know it can sound a little intimidating. As a Nurse Practitioner who works with women every day on their skin and whole-body wellness, let me break it down for you.

A chemical peel is not about burning or thinning your skin. It’s a science-backed treatment that gently removes damaged skin cells on the surface while stimulating new, healthier ones underneath. Think of it as training your skin to work the way it did when you were younger... faster cell turnover, stronger collagen, and a smoother, more even glow.

Why is fall the best time for a peel?
Here in Minneapolis, the cooler, lower-sunlight months give your skin the chance to heal and repair without the added stress of summer sun exposure. After months of sun, humidity, and sunscreen buildup, most people notice more uneven tone, dullness, or pigment spots. Fall is when we reset.

The science of how a VI Peel works:
The VI Peel is a medium-depth peel that uses a blend of trichloroacetic acid (TCA), retinoic acid, salicylic acid, phenol, and vitamin C. Together, these ingredients penetrate beyond the very top layer of skin:
  • Salicylic acid unclogs pores and reduces inflammation.
  • TCA and phenol break down damaged skin cells and stimulate deeper exfoliation.
  • Retinoic acid speeds up cell turnover and helps reduce fine lines and pigment.
  • Vitamin C provides antioxidant protection and brightens.

This controlled injury triggers the body’s natural healing response. As damaged skin peels away, new collagen is laid down in the dermis, which improves firmness, texture, and tone.

Myth-busting (because I hear these all the time):
  • “Peels will leave me red and raw for weeks.” Not true. With modern peels like the VI Peel we offer at Magnolia, you’ll experience a few days of flaking, not weeks of downtime.
  • “Peels thin out my skin.” Actually, the opposite. Peels strengthen skin over time by encouraging collagen and elastin production in the dermis.
  • “Peels aren’t safe for my skin type.” When done by a trained professional, peels can be customized for most skin tones and concerns. The key is making sure you’re evaluated and guided by someone who knows what’s safe for your skin.

Recovery + what to expect:
Most people start peeling around day 3 after the treatment. You’ll notice sheets of skin flaking away around the mouth, cheeks, and nose first. By day 5–7, the peeling slows, and you’re left with fresh, new skin that feels smoother and looks more radiant. During recovery, gentle cleansing, hydration, and strict sun protection are essential. We’ll walk you through exactly what to use and what to avoid so your skin heals beautifully.

The benefits:
  • Brighter, more even complexion
  • Softer fine lines and wrinkles
  • Fewer breakouts and improved acne scarring
  • Reduced hyperpigmentation and sun damage
  • Smoother, stronger skin with improved collagen support

Who is a good candidate?
If you’re dealing with fine lines, acne scars, stubborn breakouts, sun damage, or just want brighter, healthier-looking skin, a chemical peel could be a great option. Many of my patients who felt like they had “tried everything” finally see change once they commit to a peel series.

When you come in for a peel at Magnolia, we’ll talk through your goals, your skin type, and your comfort level before anything else. You’ll leave knowing what to expect, what the results can look like, and how we’ll support your skin as it heals.

Since fall is peel season, we’re running $50 off VI Peels October 1st-31st! It's the perfect time to give your skin a fresh start.

Whole-Body Wellness  > What's Trending

One thing you’ll learn quickly if you’re a patient at Magnolia:
I will never sell you a shortcut I wouldn’t choose for myself.

A patient told me recently, “Michelle will literally say no to me, and that is so hard to find.” She meant it as a compliment, and honestly, it’s one of the best I’ve ever received. Because in the world we live in, it’s too easy to get swept up in what’s trending, whether it’s the newest injectable, the latest “miracle” diet, or a skin treatment you saw on TikTok.

Here’s my truth: your health, your hormones, and your skin are too important for shortcuts. I’ve seen what happens when people chase trends. And it rarely serves them in the long run. My role is to guide you toward what’s safe, effective, and aligned with your bigger picture. Sometimes that means saying no.

At Magnolia, we’re not about chasing what’s popular this month. We’re about creating results that feel natural, sustainable, and truly support your whole body. That might not be as flashy as the latest trend, but it’s real. And it lasts.

Because whole-body wellness will always win out over what’s trending. Always.

Back to Routine, Back to You: Why Fall Is the Perfect Time for a Whole-Body Reset

Back to Routine, Back to You:

How a Fall Reset Can Change Everything

Picture
We’re in that sweet spot of August... soaking up the last of summer while starting to think about what’s next. The days are a little shorter, the evenings a little cooler, and it’s that natural pause that makes fall feel like a new beginning. More structure. More rhythm. A chance to realign with yourself.

What most women don’t realize is that seasonal changes don’t just affect your schedule. They also affect your body. From energy to hormones, cravings to mood, your whole system responds to the shifts that come with this time of year.

And while it might just feel like swapping swimsuits for sweaters, your body is already making adjustments behind the scenes. Here are some of the most common ways those changes show up:
  • Shorter daylight hours shift your circadian rhythm, lowering energy, disrupting sleep, and triggering hormonal shifts.
  • Cooler temps and comfort foods can drive cravings and blood sugar swings.
  • High-stress routines return with work, school, and family schedules, sending cortisol levels soaring.
  • Here in Minnesota, long winters intensify inflammation, fatigue, and mood symptoms, making it even more important to build resilience now.
  • And with the holidays on the horizon, this is the best time to lay a strong foundation before the extra stress and indulgence hit.

That’s why fall is the perfect time for a reset. At Magnolia, we look at wellness through a few interconnected lenses:
  • Weight Wellness & Hormones → Our 12-Week Reset digs deeper than diet or workouts. Through labs, nutrition, lifestyle coaching, and medical guidance when necessary, we help you address stubborn inflammation, overcome plateaus, and find balance again.
  • Aesthetics & Skin Health → Post-summer skin needs repair. Our Magnolia Skin Reset, VI Peels, micro-needling, facials, and medical-grade skincare rebuild your barrier, reduce inflammation, and restore radiance.
  • Whole-Body Support → Health isn’t about chasing perfection. It’s about sustainable changes that support your body through every season. Every plan we create is personalized to you.

This season, think of your reset as an invitation: to get ahead of the dips in energy, cravings, and stress before they hit hard, and to step into fall feeling grounded, resilient, and supported from the inside out.

That’s the Magnolia difference: solutions that works with your body, not against it.

More Protein, Less Perfection
What Women Actually Need After 35

Here’s the problem I see far too often: women over 35 are stuck between two extremes. They’re either trying to do it all perfectly... tracking every bite, hitting every workout, obsessing over every carb. Or they’ve been told to just accept that it’s all downhill from here.

Neither is the truth. And neither is helping women feel better.

What women actually need after 35 is more protein, less perfection.

Yes, protein literally matters. It’s one of the most important tools for balancing blood sugar, supporting hormones, and protecting muscle (which keeps your metabolism strong). But it’s also a metaphor: stop chasing the perfect plan and start focusing on the essentials that actually move the needle.

And here’s the key... protein is just one piece of it. Real results come from a bigger picture: sustainable nutrition, hormone support, movement that works for your body, and medical guidance when you need it. But the principle holds true: less striving for perfect, more focus on what actually fuels and sustains you.

When women shift out of perfection mode and into consistency mode, everything changes. More energy. More balance. More results.

So if you’ve been spinning your wheels, try this: less chasing perfect, more doing what truly supports your body. That’s where real, lasting results begin.

NOON Aesthetics
(Coming Soon to Magnolia!)

Picture
This month my ride-or-die isn’t just a product. It’s a whole new line I'm beyond thrilled to bring to Magnolia (SOON!): NOON Aesthetics.

NOON has figured out how to deliver clinical-strength results without the irritation that usually comes with powerful products. Their DermShield™ technology makes it possible to use higher levels of active ingredients, like AHAs and azelaic acid, without all the redness, peeling, or downtime.

That means real results for things like aging, acne, pigmentation, and rosacea, but in a way that actually supports your skin barrier instead of breaking it down.

For me, that’s huge. Because our philosophy at Magnolia has always been powerful, but safe. Effective, but not at the expense of your skin health. And NOON checks all those boxes—and then some.

We can’t wait to share more as soon as it’s available, and I’m so excited for you to experience this upgrade in your skincare routine.

The Rise of ‘Undetectable Aesthetics’: Enhancing, Not Altering

7/23/2025

Why 'Undetectable Aesthetics' Is More Than Just A Trend

There’s a new era in aesthetics—and it’s not about looking different. It’s about looking like you.

At Magnolia Aesthetics & Wellness in Linden Hills, Minneapolis, we’ve always believed in an inside-out approach to beauty. That means supporting the skin, body, and hormones as a whole. Because true radiance doesn’t come from a syringe. It comes from feeling good in your body, balanced in your hormones, and confident in your skin.

We specialize in undetectable aesthetics: subtle, intentional enhancements that honor your natural features. Whether it’s smoothing fine lines with Botox, restoring lost volume with filler or Sculptra, rebuilding collagen with microneedling or Exosomes, or nourishing the skin with results-driven facials, our treatments are designed to enhance—not alter—what makes you beautiful.

More and more women, especially those navigating hormonal shifts, perimenopause, and the changes that come with their 30s, 40s, and beyond, are looking for aesthetic care that blends with their lifestyle and values. They’re not looking to overhaul their appearance—they’re looking to support it, thoughtfully and naturally.

This shift toward undetectable aesthetics isn’t just a trend--it’s the foundation of how we’ve always practiced at Magnolia. Subtle, intentional care. Personalized plans. And a deep respect for your body’s wisdom. It’s an approach led by our founder, Nurse Practitioner Michelle, whose clinical experience and whole-person philosophy set the tone for everything we do.

So what exactly does that look like in practice? Keep reading and let Michelle tell you herself.

Why I’ll Never Over-Inject

Let me be clear—I love aesthetics. I believe in the power of a little tox or filler. But I also believe it should never be the first—or only—tool we reach for.

As a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with years of experience in women’s health and aesthetic medicine, I’ve worked with thousands of women, especially those in their 30s, 40s, and navigating perimenopause, who want to feel more like themselves again.

And what I’ve learned is this: the best outcomes happen when we listen first. What’s really bothering you? What do you want to feel like? What’s going on underneath—with your skin, your hormones, your inflammation, your life? Too often, aesthetic treatments are used like a mask. Quick injections. No context. No bigger plan. That’s not our approach.

At Magnolia, we treat the whole picture. We take the time to understand what’s happening in your body before jumping into treatments. Whether it’s a subtle enhancement with Botox, restoring volume with Sculptra, or improving skin texture with microneedling and exosomes, those tools work best when your body is supported.

We work with women dealing with hormonal fluctuations, chronic stress, perimenopausal symptoms, and skin changes that don’t respond to just another product or procedure. And we build care plans that combine smart, subtle aesthetic treatments with functional wellness support.

We don’t over-inject. We never push treatments you don’t need. And we’re not afraid to say, “Let’s get your inflammation under control before we do filler.” Because here’s the truth: when your skin is healthy, your hormones are balanced, and your body feels safe, aesthetics actually works better. You see more natural results. They last longer. And you feel more like you.

Enhancement, not alteration. Inside-out care. Rooted in expertise, guided by what’s real. That’s the Magnolia way. And it’s why women trust us to help them look and feel their best—without ever losing who they are.

It’s like a daily reset for dull, tired skin that actually works.

The Summer Reset You Didn’t Know You Needed (But Your Hormones Definitely Did)

6/18/2025

From metabolism to mindset—here’s how to make this your season of real, lasting change.

Why Summer Is the Best Time to Reset Your Health, From Hormones to Habits

Picture
If you’re a woman in your 30s or 40s living in Minneapolis (or anywhere, really!) and feeling like your body is changing in ways that no longer make sense—this is your sign to pause and reassess.

The truth? Your hormones are shifting. Your metabolism might be tired. And that old “eat less, move more” approach? It doesn’t work anymore. Especially during perimenopause.

At Magnolia Aesthetics & Wellness, we help women reset their metabolism, restore hormonal balance, and feel like themselves again—without extreme diets, calorie counting, or one-size-fits-all plans. And summer is one of the best times to begin.
Why Summer Makes Hormone and Weight Loss Resets More Effective

In our clinic, we see it all the time: women who try everything and still don’t feel better. What most don’t realize is that seasonal rhythms actually influence your ability to heal and reset—and summer is uniquely supportive of that transformation.

Here’s why summer is the ideal season to begin:
  • More daylight = more vitamin D, which supports metabolism, hormone health, and mental clarity
  • A slower pace = reduced cortisol, better sleep, and a more balanced nervous system
  • Seasonal whole foods = less processed eating, more nutrient-dense meals
  • Natural movement = more walks, more outdoor time, more joyful exercise

You’re also more aware of how your body feels in summer—your energy, digestion, sleep, and confidence. That awareness is powerful.

4 Summer Habits to Start Now
These daily practices create a strong foundation for your health and weight loss goals:

  1. Anchor your meals with protein and fiber to stabilize blood sugar and reduce cravings.
  2. Get natural light in the morning to help reset your circadian rhythm and support adrenal health.
  3. Hydrate with mineral-rich water—add sea salt or trace minerals to support energy and detoxification.
  4. Move gently and consistently. Walk after meals. Stretch before bed. Let your movement nourish, not deplete.

Ready to take it further? Our 12-Week Reset Program is built to guide women like you through a full-body transformation rooted in science, not restriction.

The Magnolia 12-Week Reset: A Whole-Body Wellness Program

Unlike fad diets or gym challenges, this program is designed to work with your body—especially during seasons of hormonal change, like perimenopause.

Here’s what makes this program different:

  • Personalized nutrition and wellness guidance
  • Real food (no shakes, no starvation)
  • Nervous system support and inflammation reduction
  • Expert care from a licensed Nurse Practitioner
  • Full-body support for metabolism, hormones, sleep, digestion, and mindset

Let’s Talk About Weight Loss After 35, Because It Is Different!

This is one of the conversations I have constantly with women in their late 30s, 40s, and beyond: “I’m doing everything I used to do, and it’s just not working anymore.”

That’s not in your head—it’s biology. And I wish more women knew what’s really going on. As your hormones shift—especially estrogen, progesterone, and cortisol—your body becomes more sensitive to stress, more prone to inflammation, and less responsive to the “old tricks” like cutting calories or doing more cardio.

And here’s the kicker: Perimenopause symptoms can start up to 10 years before menopause.

So for many women, these shifts begin in their mid-30s, even while their cycle is still “normal.” If you’ve been feeling off—more fatigued, inflamed, puffy, or like your body’s working against you—it might be hormonal, even if no one’s told you that yet.

Here’s what’s happening behind the scenes:
  • Estrogen fluctuations affect fat distribution (hello, belly weight) and can make your body more insulin resistant.
  • Progesterone drops contribute to poor sleep, mood swings, and water retention.
  • Cortisol, your stress hormone, spikes more easily—and when it’s elevated too often, it leads to fat storage, especially around your midsection.
  • And chronic inflammation (from processed foods, toxins, poor gut health, or even over-exercising) drives metabolic dysfunction.

So no, you don’t need to push harder. You need to get smarter about your health strategy.

At Magnolia, we take a root-cause, whole-body approach to weight and hormone health. We don’t just look at your weight—we look at your labs, your stress, your sleep, your cycle, your digestion, and your symptoms. Because your health is more than a number on a scale.

If you’re not sure where to start, I created a free guide (link below!) just for you:
3 Things No One Tells You About Weight Loss Over 35

Inside, you’ll learn what’s actually happening in your body—and the daily shifts I recommend to help you reset your metabolism naturally, without the shame spiral.

Why I Personally Use Metabolic Mixher
(& Recommend It to My Patients)

Picture
If you’ve been around Magnolia for a minute, you know I’m not a fan of quick-fix supplements or wellness trends that ignore the root cause. I’m selective about what I take—and even more selective about what I recommend to my patients.

But Metabolic Mixher is one of the few I use daily and stand behind wholeheartedly.
It’s a metabolism-supporting powder formulated specifically for women—and it’s packed with the exact nutrients most of us need after 35:

✔ Blood sugar balance
✔ Hormone and adrenal support
✔ Gentle energy without the crash
✔ Metabolism regulation that actually works with your body (not against it)

It includes trace minerals for thyroid health, B vitamins for energy and mood stability, adaptogens like ashwagandha to help regulate cortisol, and berberine—a powerhouse ingredient for insulin sensitivity and metabolic health.
And I’m not the only one talking about it.

I recently sat down with Mixhers co-founder Cody Sanders on the It’s HERTIME Podcast to talk all things perimenopause, hormones, and why this season of life is calling women to tune in—not power through.

We covered what perimenopause is really asking of us, how to stop feeling like a stranger in your own body, and why the right support makes all the difference.

So yes! This supplement is in my routine. It’s in the routines of many Magnolia clients. And if your body’s been whispering (or yelling) that it needs a little extra support, this is a smart place to start.

Because you deserve thoughtful, nourishing support, ALWAYS!

Beyond SPF: What Your Skin Is Really Telling You This Summer

5/15/2025

This month, we’re peeling back the layers on something we hear all the time at Magnolia: “Why isn’t my skin getting better, even though I’m doing everything right?” In this blog, Michelle breaks down what your skin is really trying to tell you—about your hormones, inflammation, and internal health.

You’ll also get her favorite summer skincare essentials! Whether you’re dealing with melasma, stubborn breakouts, or just trying to glow without the guesswork, this is your summer skin reset—inside and out.

What Your Skin's Telling You About Inflammation, Hormones, & Sun Exposure

Picture
We’ve been taught to treat our skin like it’s separate from the rest of us—something to fix with a serum, smooth over with SPF, or cover up when something doesn’t feel right.

But at Magnolia, we believe your skin is never just about skin.

It’s a reflection of what’s happening beneath the surface--your hormones, inflammation, immune system, and stress. That’s why our approach goes beyond skin deep. We look at the whole picture, because true skin health starts within.

And with May being Skin Cancer Awareness Month, there’s never been a better time to shift from reaction to prevention—not just by protecting your skin from the outside, but by supporting your entire system.

Your skin is always communicating with you.
The question is—are you listening.

Skin as a Messenger, Not a Mystery
That stubborn Melasma? That breakout that always shows up during your cycle? That dull, tired look no matter how many serums you use?
None of it is random.

As a nurse practitioner, I look at skin through a clinical and functional lens. I’ve seen how inflammation, hormone imbalance, and environmental triggers—especially sun exposure—can show up on the skin in ways that are often misunderstood or misdiagnosed.

Here's what we want you to know:

1. Hormones and Skin: The Monthly Rollercoaster
Hormonal shifts—especially during perimenopause, postpartum, or even just monthly cycle fluctuations--can cause a surge in oil production, trigger breakouts, and increase skin sensitivity. Estrogen plays a role in collagen production, hydration, and skin thickness. When it dips, you may notice dryness, sagging, or changes in texture.

Signs your skin is hormone-influenced:
Cystic acne around the chin or jaw
Dry, dull, or thinning skin
Melasma that darkens with heat or sun
Increased sensitivity or reactivity to products

2. Inflammation: The Invisible Accelerator of Aging
Chronic inflammation can be subtle—but its impact on the skin is powerful. It breaks down collagen, impairs healing, and disrupts the skin barrier, leaving you more prone to redness, breakouts, pigmentation, and premature aging.

This isn’t just about what you put on your skin. Inflammatory foods, poor sleep, gut imbalance, unmanaged stress, and blood sugar swings all add fuel to the fire.

Skin signs of internal inflammation:
Flushed or inflamed skin (rosacea-like)
Persistent breakouts
Uneven tone or texture
Skin that feels tight, dry, or reactive

3. Sun Exposure: Not Just About the Burn
Here’s the thing—sun damage doesn’t always show up as a burn. Sometimes it appears years later as pigmentation, fine lines, or loss of elasticity. Even 5-10 minutes of unprotected exposure a day adds up over time.

Add in hormone shifts or inflammation, and your skin becomes even more vulnerable to sun-related damage. Melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation can worsen significantly with even minimal heat or UV exposure.

What to watch for:
Dark patches (especially on cheeks, forehead, upper lip)
Freckling or uneven pigment
Accelerated signs of aging
Rough texture or dryness after time in the sun

What We Do Differently at Magnolia
At Magnolia, we don’t treat your skin like a surface problem. We treat it like the full-body communication tool it is. That means we:

Look at your lab work, hormones, and inflammatory markers if needed
Recommend clean, effective topical products—but pair them with internal support
Provide education and a plan, not just a list of products
Help you understand the why behind what your skin is telling you

Skin is never just about skin. It’s about stress, hormones, inflammation, nutrition, lifestyle, and the environment you live in.

Final Thoughts
If your skin isn’t responding the way you hoped… it’s not that you’re doing something wrong. You may just be missing the deeper message. The good news?  Once you know what your skin is trying to tell you, you can finally give it what it needs.

You don’t have to keep guessing or wasting money on products that aren’t working.
Let’s get to the root—and support your skin from the inside out.

Want to take the next step? We’ll help you decode your skin’s signals and build a plan that actually works—with guidance, not guesswork.

You Can’t Out-SPF a Lifestyle of Inflammation

Picture
At Magnolia, we believe education is everything. When you understand what your skin is actually trying to tell you, everything changes. You stop wasting money on products that don’t work. You stop blaming yourself for “bad skin.” And you finally start making real, lasting progress.

Because let’s be honest: most people are stuck chasing surface-level solutions for what’s really a deeper, internal conversation.

So let me get on my soapbox for a second—because in honor of Skin Cancer Awareness Month, there’s something I need to say:

Sun protection is non-negotiable…

But here’s the part that gets overlooked: SPF can only protect you from external exposure. What about the internal triggers? Hormonal shifts, chronic stress, nutrient deficiencies, gut imbalance, and even blood sugar instability can all create inflammation that visibly shows up on your skin.

I see it all the time—clients showing up with drawers full of products, religious about their sunscreen, doing “all the right things”… and still frustrated with dull skin, stubborn melasma, flare-ups, or premature aging.

Here's what they're not being told: You can’t fight inflammation from the outside in.

If your hormones are out of whack, your stress is through the roof, your gut is struggling, and your blood sugar’s on a rollercoaster, it will show up on your skin. That’s not harsh—it’s just how the body works. Your skin is an extension of your internal health, not a separate system you can patch up with product.

So yes, wear the SPF. But don’t stop there. Prevention doesn’t come in a bottle.
It comes from understanding your body, honoring what it’s asking for, and giving your skin what it really needs--from the inside out.

With Love!

Summer Skincare Essentials

Picture
When it comes to summer skin, I’m all about that sweet spot: protected and glowing, supported and simple. Here are my non-negotiables—things I actually use, actually love, and actually recommend to our clients every single day.

1. A Trustworthy SPF (that doesn’t make you break out)
If your SPF clogs your pores, causes irritation, or leaves a white cast—it’s not the one. Look for clean, non-comedogenic, zinc-based options that protect and play nice with your skin.

Favorites: CLEARSTEM You Are Sunshine, BIOJUVE Sheer Finish SPF

2. SPF for Your Lips (because yes, they burn too)
Lips are often forgotten, but super prone to sun damage. A swipe of SPF lip balm = major payoff.

Favorite: SunBum SPF Lip Balm

3. A Hat That You’ll Actually Wear
Nothing fancy—just something cute, comfy, and wide-brimmed enough to keep your face shaded. Especially important if you’re dealing with melasma or pigmentation that flares in the heat.

4. Internal Support (your secret weapon)
Skin health isn’t just topical. Think antioxidants, Omega-3s, and collagen to reduce inflammation, support elasticity, and keep your glow going strong.

Client faves: Vitamin C, Omega-3s, or a clean collagen peptide

5. A Body Oil That Feels Like a Ritual
Post-sun skin craves nourishment. A high-quality, unrefined body oil locks in moisture, calms irritation, and gives that silky glow without the endocrine disruptors.

Favorites: Prakash Organics Nectar Unrefined Clinic Grade Body Oil—clean, rich, and so good after a shower.

Not sure where to start with your summer skin game?
Come see us at Magnolia. We’ll help you build a routine that’s not just protective—but powerful. Real results, real support, and products we actually stand behind.

Happy Glowing!

Spring Skin Recovery & Hormone Imbalance Support: How to Reset After Travel and Feel Like Yourself Again

4/15/2025

In this month’s blog, we’re covering three things we’ve been talking about a lot in the clinic lately: how to help your skin bounce back post-Spring Break, why emotional swings and sleepless nights might be your body’s way of asking for deeper support, and the glow-giving face oil Michelle can’t stop reaching for. Whether you’re looking to reset your skin, your hormones, or just your sense of balance, there’s something in here for you.

Spring Break Was Fun
But Your Skin's Asking for a Time-Out

Picture
After time in the sun, salty air, and maybe one too many airport lattes or poolside drinks, your skin is probably ready for a reset. Whether you just got back from Spring Break or your skin’s been feeling dry, dull, or broken out lately—this is your sign to show it some post-travel TLC.

At Magnolia, we take a holistic, whole-body approach to skincare—because your skin is more than just what’s on the surface. It’s a reflection of what’s going on inside, how you’ve been feeling, and everything your body’s been navigating lately.

If your skin feels a little off right now, you’re not alone. And no, it’s not just the weather.

Why Your Skin Feels Off After Travel (Even if You Used SPF)

The combination of recycled plane air, pool chlorine, sun exposure, sunscreen buildup, and all the shifts in your routine can take a toll—fast. Even if you’re someone who never skips SPF, your skin barrier can still take a hit.

And let’s be honest: it’s not just travel. Seasonal transitions, hormonal shifts, and stress can also throw things off. I see it all the time in the clinic—skin that’s dry, reactive, congested, or just not feeling right.

Even short-term exposure to environmental stressors can trigger inflammation and accelerate cellular damage beneath the surface—especially if your skin barrier is already running on empty. That’s why I treat post-travel skincare as a form of recovery, not just a beauty treatment.

Post-Travel Skin Fix: Our Top 2 Recommendations for Reviving Your Glow

Magnolia's Custom Facials:
If your skin is feeling tight, flaky, or broken out, our holistic facial is one of the best places to start. Ryane customizes every facial to your skin’s needs—whether it’s deep hydration, gentle exfoliation, calming inflammation, or extractions (for those post-sunscreen breakouts).

Facials are so much more than pampering. When your skin is recovering, they provide:

  • Skin Recovery – Helping to rehydrate and calm skin stressed by sun, salt, or chlorine
  • Deep Cleansing – Removing sunscreen and makeup buildup from long travel days
  • Exfoliation – Sloughing off dead skin cells for a brighter, smoother surface
  • Hydration – Replenishing lost moisture and rebuilding your barrier
  • Stress Relief – Supporting your nervous system while we support your skin
  • Tailored Treatment – Addressing breakouts, pigmentation, and what your skin’s truly asking for

Chemical Peel (VI Peel):
If you’re seeing pigmentation, uneven texture, or buildup that just won’t quit, a VI Peel may be the better choice. These gentle, medical-grade peels exfoliate damaged skin cells and stimulate collagen beneath the surface, revealing a brighter, smoother, and more refreshed complexion.

They’re also a powerful tool for long-term skin health—boosting collagen production, encouraging cellular turnover, and helping your skin reset from the inside out.

And right now is the perfect time to try one: we’re offering $50 off any VI Peel through the end of April. It’s the ideal post-spring reset if your skin needs a deeper, results-driven boost.

Not sure what your skin needs? Here’s a quick cheat sheet:
  • Dry, dull, or flaky → Try a post-travel facial
  • Breakouts, texture, or dark spots → Go for a VI Peel
  • Hormonal acne or barrier issues → Start with a consult for a tailored plan

Still not sure? That’s what we’re here for. Send us a message or book a skin consult—we’ll help you figure out the best next step for you.

The Magnolia Approach
We don’t just treat your skin—we look at the whole picture. Because as much as we love good skincare (and trust me, we do), your skin is often the first place your body whispers, something’s off.

As a Nurse Practitioner, I’ve seen over and over how things like inflammation, stress, hormone changes, or internal imbalances can show up on the skin—especially this time of year when everything’s shifting.

That’s why we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you’re looking for a glow-up after vacation or you’re trying to figure out what’s causing breakouts or sensitivity that didn’t used to be there, we take the time to listen, assess, and create a plan that works for you.

You’re Not Crazy, Hormonal, or Just Tired—You’re Asking for Help (And You Deserve to Be Heard)

Recently, two women shared something with me that stopped me in my tracks:
Since starting hormone replacement, I’m no longer experiencing premenstrual crying at the slightest and I’m finally sleeping through the night. It’s changed my life!
I have felt so much calmer and stable during PMS. I’m so happy Magnolia was able to assist me, and my quality of life and mood have improved greatly as a result!
These words aren’t rare in our clinic…they’re common. Too common. Because too many women have been led to believe they have to live like this.

Let me say this plainly:
If you’re crying before your period every month, snapping at your partner, waking up at 2 a.m. like clockwork, or feeling like a stranger in your own body—something is off. And you’re allowed to say so.

This Isn’t “Just Hormones.” It’s Your Body Asking for Help.
I can’t tell you how many women come in thinking they just need to push through. They’ve tried supplements, new workouts, better sleep hygiene. They’ve been told their labs look “fine,” or worse—that it’s just stress.

Meanwhile, they’re feeling completely unrecognizable to themselves.
And here’s the truth: You don’t need to be dismissed. You need to be heard. You need someone who’s willing to listen to the full story, not just skim the surface.

Labs Are a Tool—Not the Whole Story
At Magnolia, we use lab work to inform and guide every treatment plan, but we never treat numbers in isolation. Your symptoms matter. Your lived experience matters. We connect the dots between what’s happening internally and how that’s showing up in your life.

Some women need progesterone. Others need nervous system support, blood sugar balancing, or inflammation addressed. But every care plan is personalized. No templates. No guesswork. No assumptions.

You Don’t Need to Fix Yourself—You Need a Provider Who Gets It
I’m not here to slap a band-aid on your symptoms or tell you to wait it out. I’m here to help you feel better. To help you reclaim your sleep, your calm, your energy, your ability to function and enjoy your life again.

So if you’ve been feeling emotional, off balance, exhausted, or “not like yourself”—this is your reminder that:
  • You’re not crazy.
  • You’re not failing.
  • And you’re definitely not alone.

When you’re ready, we’re here—with real answers, compassionate care, and a plan that’s actually built around you.
With Love!

Michelle's Ride Or Die

Éclat Midy Face Oil by Olivier Midy

I’ve been loving this face oil lately—especially as we transition into spring and my skin needs a little extra nourishment and balance.

The Éclat Midy Face Oil is rich in omega fatty acids, polyphenols, and antioxidants, but it still feels incredibly lightweight. It gives my skin that healthy, radiant glow without ever feeling greasy. I’ve been using it at night (and sometimes during the day when I need a boost), and it’s especially calming after sun exposure or travel.

What makes it even more special is the story behind it—Olivier Midy blends centuries of apothecary tradition with modern science to create formulas that are truly luxurious and performance-driven. It’s 100% plant-based, cruelty-free, and made without synthetic fragrance—just beautifully clean, effective skincare.

If your skin’s feeling dry, tight, or like it needs some post-winter or spring break repair, this has been such a grounding and glow-giving addition to my routine.

Happy Glowing!
