Back to Routine, Back to You: Why Fall Is the Perfect Time for a Whole-Body Reset

Back to Routine, Back to You:

How a Fall Reset Can Change Everything

Picture
We’re in that sweet spot of August... soaking up the last of summer while starting to think about what’s next. The days are a little shorter, the evenings a little cooler, and it’s that natural pause that makes fall feel like a new beginning. More structure. More rhythm. A chance to realign with yourself.

What most women don’t realize is that seasonal changes don’t just affect your schedule. They also affect your body. From energy to hormones, cravings to mood, your whole system responds to the shifts that come with this time of year.

And while it might just feel like swapping swimsuits for sweaters, your body is already making adjustments behind the scenes. Here are some of the most common ways those changes show up:
  • Shorter daylight hours shift your circadian rhythm, lowering energy, disrupting sleep, and triggering hormonal shifts.
  • Cooler temps and comfort foods can drive cravings and blood sugar swings.
  • High-stress routines return with work, school, and family schedules, sending cortisol levels soaring.
  • Here in Minnesota, long winters intensify inflammation, fatigue, and mood symptoms, making it even more important to build resilience now.
  • And with the holidays on the horizon, this is the best time to lay a strong foundation before the extra stress and indulgence hit.

That’s why fall is the perfect time for a reset. At Magnolia, we look at wellness through a few interconnected lenses:
  • Weight Wellness & Hormones → Our 12-Week Reset digs deeper than diet or workouts. Through labs, nutrition, lifestyle coaching, and medical guidance when necessary, we help you address stubborn inflammation, overcome plateaus, and find balance again.
  • Aesthetics & Skin Health → Post-summer skin needs repair. Our Magnolia Skin Reset, VI Peels, micro-needling, facials, and medical-grade skincare rebuild your barrier, reduce inflammation, and restore radiance.
  • Whole-Body Support → Health isn’t about chasing perfection. It’s about sustainable changes that support your body through every season. Every plan we create is personalized to you.

This season, think of your reset as an invitation: to get ahead of the dips in energy, cravings, and stress before they hit hard, and to step into fall feeling grounded, resilient, and supported from the inside out.

That’s the Magnolia difference: solutions that works with your body, not against it.

More Protein, Less Perfection
What Women Actually Need After 35

Here’s the problem I see far too often: women over 35 are stuck between two extremes. They’re either trying to do it all perfectly... tracking every bite, hitting every workout, obsessing over every carb. Or they’ve been told to just accept that it’s all downhill from here.

Neither is the truth. And neither is helping women feel better.

What women actually need after 35 is more protein, less perfection.

Yes, protein literally matters. It’s one of the most important tools for balancing blood sugar, supporting hormones, and protecting muscle (which keeps your metabolism strong). But it’s also a metaphor: stop chasing the perfect plan and start focusing on the essentials that actually move the needle.

And here’s the key... protein is just one piece of it. Real results come from a bigger picture: sustainable nutrition, hormone support, movement that works for your body, and medical guidance when you need it. But the principle holds true: less striving for perfect, more focus on what actually fuels and sustains you.

When women shift out of perfection mode and into consistency mode, everything changes. More energy. More balance. More results.

So if you’ve been spinning your wheels, try this: less chasing perfect, more doing what truly supports your body. That’s where real, lasting results begin.

NOON Aesthetics
(Coming Soon to Magnolia!)

Picture
This month my ride-or-die isn’t just a product. It’s a whole new line I'm beyond thrilled to bring to Magnolia (SOON!): NOON Aesthetics.

NOON has figured out how to deliver clinical-strength results without the irritation that usually comes with powerful products. Their DermShield™ technology makes it possible to use higher levels of active ingredients, like AHAs and azelaic acid, without all the redness, peeling, or downtime.

That means real results for things like aging, acne, pigmentation, and rosacea, but in a way that actually supports your skin barrier instead of breaking it down.

For me, that’s huge. Because our philosophy at Magnolia has always been powerful, but safe. Effective, but not at the expense of your skin health. And NOON checks all those boxes—and then some.

We can’t wait to share more as soon as it’s available, and I’m so excited for you to experience this upgrade in your skincare routine.

The Rise of ‘Undetectable Aesthetics’: Enhancing, Not Altering

7/23/2025

Why 'Undetectable Aesthetics' Is More Than Just A Trend

There’s a new era in aesthetics—and it’s not about looking different. It’s about looking like you.

At Magnolia Aesthetics & Wellness in Linden Hills, Minneapolis, we’ve always believed in an inside-out approach to beauty. That means supporting the skin, body, and hormones as a whole. Because true radiance doesn’t come from a syringe. It comes from feeling good in your body, balanced in your hormones, and confident in your skin.

We specialize in undetectable aesthetics: subtle, intentional enhancements that honor your natural features. Whether it’s smoothing fine lines with Botox, restoring lost volume with filler or Sculptra, rebuilding collagen with microneedling or Exosomes, or nourishing the skin with results-driven facials, our treatments are designed to enhance—not alter—what makes you beautiful.

More and more women, especially those navigating hormonal shifts, perimenopause, and the changes that come with their 30s, 40s, and beyond, are looking for aesthetic care that blends with their lifestyle and values. They’re not looking to overhaul their appearance—they’re looking to support it, thoughtfully and naturally.

This shift toward undetectable aesthetics isn’t just a trend--it’s the foundation of how we’ve always practiced at Magnolia. Subtle, intentional care. Personalized plans. And a deep respect for your body’s wisdom. It’s an approach led by our founder, Nurse Practitioner Michelle, whose clinical experience and whole-person philosophy set the tone for everything we do.

So what exactly does that look like in practice? Keep reading and let Michelle tell you herself.

Why I’ll Never Over-Inject

Let me be clear—I love aesthetics. I believe in the power of a little tox or filler. But I also believe it should never be the first—or only—tool we reach for.

As a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with years of experience in women’s health and aesthetic medicine, I’ve worked with thousands of women, especially those in their 30s, 40s, and navigating perimenopause, who want to feel more like themselves again.

And what I’ve learned is this: the best outcomes happen when we listen first. What’s really bothering you? What do you want to feel like? What’s going on underneath—with your skin, your hormones, your inflammation, your life? Too often, aesthetic treatments are used like a mask. Quick injections. No context. No bigger plan. That’s not our approach.

At Magnolia, we treat the whole picture. We take the time to understand what’s happening in your body before jumping into treatments. Whether it’s a subtle enhancement with Botox, restoring volume with Sculptra, or improving skin texture with microneedling and exosomes, those tools work best when your body is supported.

We work with women dealing with hormonal fluctuations, chronic stress, perimenopausal symptoms, and skin changes that don’t respond to just another product or procedure. And we build care plans that combine smart, subtle aesthetic treatments with functional wellness support.

We don’t over-inject. We never push treatments you don’t need. And we’re not afraid to say, “Let’s get your inflammation under control before we do filler.” Because here’s the truth: when your skin is healthy, your hormones are balanced, and your body feels safe, aesthetics actually works better. You see more natural results. They last longer. And you feel more like you.

Enhancement, not alteration. Inside-out care. Rooted in expertise, guided by what’s real. That’s the Magnolia way. And it’s why women trust us to help them look and feel their best—without ever losing who they are.

Okay...I don’t sell this, but I always keep it stocked!

It’s like a daily reset for dull, tired skin that actually works.

The Summer Reset You Didn’t Know You Needed (But Your Hormones Definitely Did)

6/18/2025

From metabolism to mindset—here’s how to make this your season of real, lasting change.

Why Summer Is the Best Time to Reset Your Health, From Hormones to Habits

Picture
If you’re a woman in your 30s or 40s living in Minneapolis (or anywhere, really!) and feeling like your body is changing in ways that no longer make sense—this is your sign to pause and reassess.

The truth? Your hormones are shifting. Your metabolism might be tired. And that old “eat less, move more” approach? It doesn’t work anymore. Especially during perimenopause.

At Magnolia Aesthetics & Wellness, we help women reset their metabolism, restore hormonal balance, and feel like themselves again—without extreme diets, calorie counting, or one-size-fits-all plans. And summer is one of the best times to begin.
Why Summer Makes Hormone and Weight Loss Resets More Effective

In our clinic, we see it all the time: women who try everything and still don’t feel better. What most don’t realize is that seasonal rhythms actually influence your ability to heal and reset—and summer is uniquely supportive of that transformation.

Here’s why summer is the ideal season to begin:
  • More daylight = more vitamin D, which supports metabolism, hormone health, and mental clarity
  • A slower pace = reduced cortisol, better sleep, and a more balanced nervous system
  • Seasonal whole foods = less processed eating, more nutrient-dense meals
  • Natural movement = more walks, more outdoor time, more joyful exercise

You’re also more aware of how your body feels in summer—your energy, digestion, sleep, and confidence. That awareness is powerful.

4 Summer Habits to Start Now
These daily practices create a strong foundation for your health and weight loss goals:

  1. Anchor your meals with protein and fiber to stabilize blood sugar and reduce cravings.
  2. Get natural light in the morning to help reset your circadian rhythm and support adrenal health.
  3. Hydrate with mineral-rich water—add sea salt or trace minerals to support energy and detoxification.
  4. Move gently and consistently. Walk after meals. Stretch before bed. Let your movement nourish, not deplete.

Ready to take it further? Our 12-Week Reset Program is built to guide women like you through a full-body transformation rooted in science, not restriction.

The Magnolia 12-Week Reset: A Whole-Body Wellness Program

Unlike fad diets or gym challenges, this program is designed to work with your body—especially during seasons of hormonal change, like perimenopause.

Here’s what makes this program different:

  • Personalized nutrition and wellness guidance
  • Real food (no shakes, no starvation)
  • Nervous system support and inflammation reduction
  • Expert care from a licensed Nurse Practitioner
  • Full-body support for metabolism, hormones, sleep, digestion, and mindset

Let’s Talk About Weight Loss After 35, Because It Is Different!

This is one of the conversations I have constantly with women in their late 30s, 40s, and beyond: “I’m doing everything I used to do, and it’s just not working anymore.”

That’s not in your head—it’s biology. And I wish more women knew what’s really going on. As your hormones shift—especially estrogen, progesterone, and cortisol—your body becomes more sensitive to stress, more prone to inflammation, and less responsive to the “old tricks” like cutting calories or doing more cardio.

And here’s the kicker: Perimenopause symptoms can start up to 10 years before menopause.

So for many women, these shifts begin in their mid-30s, even while their cycle is still “normal.” If you’ve been feeling off—more fatigued, inflamed, puffy, or like your body’s working against you—it might be hormonal, even if no one’s told you that yet.

Here’s what’s happening behind the scenes:
  • Estrogen fluctuations affect fat distribution (hello, belly weight) and can make your body more insulin resistant.
  • Progesterone drops contribute to poor sleep, mood swings, and water retention.
  • Cortisol, your stress hormone, spikes more easily—and when it’s elevated too often, it leads to fat storage, especially around your midsection.
  • And chronic inflammation (from processed foods, toxins, poor gut health, or even over-exercising) drives metabolic dysfunction.

So no, you don’t need to push harder. You need to get smarter about your health strategy.

At Magnolia, we take a root-cause, whole-body approach to weight and hormone health. We don’t just look at your weight—we look at your labs, your stress, your sleep, your cycle, your digestion, and your symptoms. Because your health is more than a number on a scale.

If you’re not sure where to start, I created a free guide (link below!) just for you:

Inside, you’ll learn what’s actually happening in your body—and the daily shifts I recommend to help you reset your metabolism naturally, without the shame spiral.

Why I Personally Use Metabolic Mixher
(& Recommend It to My Patients)

Picture
If you’ve been around Magnolia for a minute, you know I’m not a fan of quick-fix supplements or wellness trends that ignore the root cause. I’m selective about what I take—and even more selective about what I recommend to my patients.

But Metabolic Mixher is one of the few I use daily and stand behind wholeheartedly.
It’s a metabolism-supporting powder formulated specifically for women—and it’s packed with the exact nutrients most of us need after 35:

✔ Blood sugar balance
✔ Hormone and adrenal support
✔ Gentle energy without the crash
✔ Metabolism regulation that actually works with your body (not against it)

It includes trace minerals for thyroid health, B vitamins for energy and mood stability, adaptogens like ashwagandha to help regulate cortisol, and berberine—a powerhouse ingredient for insulin sensitivity and metabolic health.
And I’m not the only one talking about it.

I recently sat down with Mixhers co-founder Cody Sanders on the It’s HERTIME Podcast to talk all things perimenopause, hormones, and why this season of life is calling women to tune in—not power through.

We covered what perimenopause is really asking of us, how to stop feeling like a stranger in your own body, and why the right support makes all the difference.

So yes! This supplement is in my routine. It’s in the routines of many Magnolia clients. And if your body’s been whispering (or yelling) that it needs a little extra support, this is a smart place to start.

Because you deserve thoughtful, nourishing support, ALWAYS!

Beyond SPF: What Your Skin Is Really Telling You This Summer

5/15/2025

This month, we’re peeling back the layers on something we hear all the time at Magnolia: “Why isn’t my skin getting better, even though I’m doing everything right?” In this blog, Michelle breaks down what your skin is really trying to tell you—about your hormones, inflammation, and internal health.

You’ll also get her favorite summer skincare essentials! Whether you’re dealing with melasma, stubborn breakouts, or just trying to glow without the guesswork, this is your summer skin reset—inside and out.

What Your Skin's Telling You About Inflammation, Hormones, & Sun Exposure

Picture
We’ve been taught to treat our skin like it’s separate from the rest of us—something to fix with a serum, smooth over with SPF, or cover up when something doesn’t feel right.

But at Magnolia, we believe your skin is never just about skin.

It’s a reflection of what’s happening beneath the surface--your hormones, inflammation, immune system, and stress. That’s why our approach goes beyond skin deep. We look at the whole picture, because true skin health starts within.

And with May being Skin Cancer Awareness Month, there’s never been a better time to shift from reaction to prevention—not just by protecting your skin from the outside, but by supporting your entire system.

Your skin is always communicating with you.
The question is—are you listening.

Skin as a Messenger, Not a Mystery
That stubborn Melasma? That breakout that always shows up during your cycle? That dull, tired look no matter how many serums you use?
None of it is random.

As a nurse practitioner, I look at skin through a clinical and functional lens. I’ve seen how inflammation, hormone imbalance, and environmental triggers—especially sun exposure—can show up on the skin in ways that are often misunderstood or misdiagnosed.

Here's what we want you to know:

1. Hormones and Skin: The Monthly Rollercoaster
Hormonal shifts—especially during perimenopause, postpartum, or even just monthly cycle fluctuations--can cause a surge in oil production, trigger breakouts, and increase skin sensitivity. Estrogen plays a role in collagen production, hydration, and skin thickness. When it dips, you may notice dryness, sagging, or changes in texture.

Signs your skin is hormone-influenced:
Cystic acne around the chin or jaw
Dry, dull, or thinning skin
Melasma that darkens with heat or sun
Increased sensitivity or reactivity to products

2. Inflammation: The Invisible Accelerator of Aging
Chronic inflammation can be subtle—but its impact on the skin is powerful. It breaks down collagen, impairs healing, and disrupts the skin barrier, leaving you more prone to redness, breakouts, pigmentation, and premature aging.

This isn’t just about what you put on your skin. Inflammatory foods, poor sleep, gut imbalance, unmanaged stress, and blood sugar swings all add fuel to the fire.

Skin signs of internal inflammation:
Flushed or inflamed skin (rosacea-like)
Persistent breakouts
Uneven tone or texture
Skin that feels tight, dry, or reactive

3. Sun Exposure: Not Just About the Burn
Here’s the thing—sun damage doesn’t always show up as a burn. Sometimes it appears years later as pigmentation, fine lines, or loss of elasticity. Even 5-10 minutes of unprotected exposure a day adds up over time.

Add in hormone shifts or inflammation, and your skin becomes even more vulnerable to sun-related damage. Melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation can worsen significantly with even minimal heat or UV exposure.

What to watch for:
Dark patches (especially on cheeks, forehead, upper lip)
Freckling or uneven pigment
Accelerated signs of aging
Rough texture or dryness after time in the sun

What We Do Differently at Magnolia
At Magnolia, we don’t treat your skin like a surface problem. We treat it like the full-body communication tool it is. That means we:

Look at your lab work, hormones, and inflammatory markers if needed
Recommend clean, effective topical products—but pair them with internal support
Provide education and a plan, not just a list of products
Help you understand the why behind what your skin is telling you

Skin is never just about skin. It’s about stress, hormones, inflammation, nutrition, lifestyle, and the environment you live in.

Final Thoughts
If your skin isn’t responding the way you hoped… it’s not that you’re doing something wrong. You may just be missing the deeper message. The good news?  Once you know what your skin is trying to tell you, you can finally give it what it needs.

You don’t have to keep guessing or wasting money on products that aren’t working.
Let’s get to the root—and support your skin from the inside out.

Want to take the next step? We’ll help you decode your skin’s signals and build a plan that actually works—with guidance, not guesswork.

You Can’t Out-SPF a Lifestyle of Inflammation

Picture
At Magnolia, we believe education is everything. When you understand what your skin is actually trying to tell you, everything changes. You stop wasting money on products that don’t work. You stop blaming yourself for “bad skin.” And you finally start making real, lasting progress.

Because let’s be honest: most people are stuck chasing surface-level solutions for what’s really a deeper, internal conversation.

So let me get on my soapbox for a second—because in honor of Skin Cancer Awareness Month, there’s something I need to say:

Sun protection is non-negotiable…

But here’s the part that gets overlooked: SPF can only protect you from external exposure. What about the internal triggers? Hormonal shifts, chronic stress, nutrient deficiencies, gut imbalance, and even blood sugar instability can all create inflammation that visibly shows up on your skin.

I see it all the time—clients showing up with drawers full of products, religious about their sunscreen, doing “all the right things”… and still frustrated with dull skin, stubborn melasma, flare-ups, or premature aging.

Here's what they're not being told: You can’t fight inflammation from the outside in.

If your hormones are out of whack, your stress is through the roof, your gut is struggling, and your blood sugar’s on a rollercoaster, it will show up on your skin. That’s not harsh—it’s just how the body works. Your skin is an extension of your internal health, not a separate system you can patch up with product.

So yes, wear the SPF. But don’t stop there. Prevention doesn’t come in a bottle.
It comes from understanding your body, honoring what it’s asking for, and giving your skin what it really needs--from the inside out.

With Love!

Summer Skincare Essentials

Picture
When it comes to summer skin, I’m all about that sweet spot: protected and glowing, supported and simple. Here are my non-negotiables—things I actually use, actually love, and actually recommend to our clients every single day.

1. A Trustworthy SPF (that doesn’t make you break out)
If your SPF clogs your pores, causes irritation, or leaves a white cast—it’s not the one. Look for clean, non-comedogenic, zinc-based options that protect and play nice with your skin.

Favorites: CLEARSTEM You Are Sunshine, BIOJUVE Sheer Finish SPF

2. SPF for Your Lips (because yes, they burn too)
Lips are often forgotten, but super prone to sun damage. A swipe of SPF lip balm = major payoff.

Favorite: SunBum SPF Lip Balm

3. A Hat That You’ll Actually Wear
Nothing fancy—just something cute, comfy, and wide-brimmed enough to keep your face shaded. Especially important if you’re dealing with melasma or pigmentation that flares in the heat.

4. Internal Support (your secret weapon)
Skin health isn’t just topical. Think antioxidants, Omega-3s, and collagen to reduce inflammation, support elasticity, and keep your glow going strong.

Client faves: Vitamin C, Omega-3s, or a clean collagen peptide

5. A Body Oil That Feels Like a Ritual
Post-sun skin craves nourishment. A high-quality, unrefined body oil locks in moisture, calms irritation, and gives that silky glow without the endocrine disruptors.

Favorites: Prakash Organics Nectar Unrefined Clinic Grade Body Oil—clean, rich, and so good after a shower.

Not sure where to start with your summer skin game?
Come see us at Magnolia. We’ll help you build a routine that’s not just protective—but powerful. Real results, real support, and products we actually stand behind.

Happy Glowing!

Spring Skin Recovery & Hormone Imbalance Support: How to Reset After Travel and Feel Like Yourself Again

4/15/2025

In this month’s blog, we’re covering three things we’ve been talking about a lot in the clinic lately: how to help your skin bounce back post-Spring Break, why emotional swings and sleepless nights might be your body’s way of asking for deeper support, and the glow-giving face oil Michelle can’t stop reaching for. Whether you’re looking to reset your skin, your hormones, or just your sense of balance, there’s something in here for you.

Spring Break Was Fun
But Your Skin's Asking for a Time-Out

Picture
After time in the sun, salty air, and maybe one too many airport lattes or poolside drinks, your skin is probably ready for a reset. Whether you just got back from Spring Break or your skin’s been feeling dry, dull, or broken out lately—this is your sign to show it some post-travel TLC.

At Magnolia, we take a holistic, whole-body approach to skincare—because your skin is more than just what’s on the surface. It’s a reflection of what’s going on inside, how you’ve been feeling, and everything your body’s been navigating lately.

If your skin feels a little off right now, you’re not alone. And no, it’s not just the weather.

Why Your Skin Feels Off After Travel (Even if You Used SPF)

The combination of recycled plane air, pool chlorine, sun exposure, sunscreen buildup, and all the shifts in your routine can take a toll—fast. Even if you’re someone who never skips SPF, your skin barrier can still take a hit.

And let’s be honest: it’s not just travel. Seasonal transitions, hormonal shifts, and stress can also throw things off. I see it all the time in the clinic—skin that’s dry, reactive, congested, or just not feeling right.

Even short-term exposure to environmental stressors can trigger inflammation and accelerate cellular damage beneath the surface—especially if your skin barrier is already running on empty. That’s why I treat post-travel skincare as a form of recovery, not just a beauty treatment.

Post-Travel Skin Fix: Our Top 2 Recommendations for Reviving Your Glow

Magnolia's Custom Facials:
If your skin is feeling tight, flaky, or broken out, our holistic facial is one of the best places to start. Ryane customizes every facial to your skin’s needs—whether it’s deep hydration, gentle exfoliation, calming inflammation, or extractions (for those post-sunscreen breakouts).

Facials are so much more than pampering. When your skin is recovering, they provide:

  • Skin Recovery – Helping to rehydrate and calm skin stressed by sun, salt, or chlorine
  • Deep Cleansing – Removing sunscreen and makeup buildup from long travel days
  • Exfoliation – Sloughing off dead skin cells for a brighter, smoother surface
  • Hydration – Replenishing lost moisture and rebuilding your barrier
  • Stress Relief – Supporting your nervous system while we support your skin
  • Tailored Treatment – Addressing breakouts, pigmentation, and what your skin’s truly asking for

Chemical Peel (VI Peel):
If you’re seeing pigmentation, uneven texture, or buildup that just won’t quit, a VI Peel may be the better choice. These gentle, medical-grade peels exfoliate damaged skin cells and stimulate collagen beneath the surface, revealing a brighter, smoother, and more refreshed complexion.

They’re also a powerful tool for long-term skin health—boosting collagen production, encouraging cellular turnover, and helping your skin reset from the inside out.

And right now is the perfect time to try one: we’re offering $50 off any VI Peel through the end of April. It’s the ideal post-spring reset if your skin needs a deeper, results-driven boost.

Not sure what your skin needs? Here’s a quick cheat sheet:
  • Dry, dull, or flaky → Try a post-travel facial
  • Breakouts, texture, or dark spots → Go for a VI Peel
  • Hormonal acne or barrier issues → Start with a consult for a tailored plan

Still not sure? That’s what we’re here for. Send us a message or book a skin consult—we’ll help you figure out the best next step for you.

The Magnolia Approach
We don’t just treat your skin—we look at the whole picture. Because as much as we love good skincare (and trust me, we do), your skin is often the first place your body whispers, something’s off.

As a Nurse Practitioner, I’ve seen over and over how things like inflammation, stress, hormone changes, or internal imbalances can show up on the skin—especially this time of year when everything’s shifting.

That’s why we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you’re looking for a glow-up after vacation or you’re trying to figure out what’s causing breakouts or sensitivity that didn’t used to be there, we take the time to listen, assess, and create a plan that works for you.

You’re Not Crazy, Hormonal, or Just Tired—You’re Asking for Help (And You Deserve to Be Heard)

Recently, two women shared something with me that stopped me in my tracks:
Since starting hormone replacement, I’m no longer experiencing premenstrual crying at the slightest and I’m finally sleeping through the night. It’s changed my life!
I have felt so much calmer and stable during PMS. I’m so happy Magnolia was able to assist me, and my quality of life and mood have improved greatly as a result!
These words aren’t rare in our clinic…they’re common. Too common. Because too many women have been led to believe they have to live like this.

Let me say this plainly:
If you’re crying before your period every month, snapping at your partner, waking up at 2 a.m. like clockwork, or feeling like a stranger in your own body—something is off. And you’re allowed to say so.

This Isn’t “Just Hormones.” It’s Your Body Asking for Help.
I can’t tell you how many women come in thinking they just need to push through. They’ve tried supplements, new workouts, better sleep hygiene. They’ve been told their labs look “fine,” or worse—that it’s just stress.

Meanwhile, they’re feeling completely unrecognizable to themselves.
And here’s the truth: You don’t need to be dismissed. You need to be heard. You need someone who’s willing to listen to the full story, not just skim the surface.

Labs Are a Tool—Not the Whole Story
At Magnolia, we use lab work to inform and guide every treatment plan, but we never treat numbers in isolation. Your symptoms matter. Your lived experience matters. We connect the dots between what’s happening internally and how that’s showing up in your life.

Some women need progesterone. Others need nervous system support, blood sugar balancing, or inflammation addressed. But every care plan is personalized. No templates. No guesswork. No assumptions.

You Don’t Need to Fix Yourself—You Need a Provider Who Gets It
I’m not here to slap a band-aid on your symptoms or tell you to wait it out. I’m here to help you feel better. To help you reclaim your sleep, your calm, your energy, your ability to function and enjoy your life again.

So if you’ve been feeling emotional, off balance, exhausted, or “not like yourself”—this is your reminder that:
  • You’re not crazy.
  • You’re not failing.
  • And you’re definitely not alone.

When you’re ready, we’re here—with real answers, compassionate care, and a plan that’s actually built around you.
With Love!

Éclat Midy Face Oil by Olivier Midy

Picture

I’ve been loving this face oil lately—especially as we transition into spring and my skin needs a little extra nourishment and balance.

The Éclat Midy Face Oil is rich in omega fatty acids, polyphenols, and antioxidants, but it still feels incredibly lightweight. It gives my skin that healthy, radiant glow without ever feeling greasy. I’ve been using it at night (and sometimes during the day when I need a boost), and it’s especially calming after sun exposure or travel.

What makes it even more special is the story behind it—Olivier Midy blends centuries of apothecary tradition with modern science to create formulas that are truly luxurious and performance-driven. It’s 100% plant-based, cruelty-free, and made without synthetic fragrance—just beautifully clean, effective skincare.

If your skin’s feeling dry, tight, or like it needs some post-winter or spring break repair, this has been such a grounding and glow-giving addition to my routine.

Happy Glowing!

Libido, Metabolism & Vitality: What Your Sex Drive Reveals About Your Health

3/18/2025

This month’s blog dives into the powerful connection between libido, metabolism, and overall well-being—because your sex drive is more than just desire; it’s a key indicator of health. Learn how hormonal balance, metabolic health, and lifestyle factors impact libido, why low desire can signal deeper imbalances, and what you can do to restore vitality.

Keep reading for expert insights and real solutions to help you feel your best—inside and out!

Beyond the Bedroom:

Why a Healthy Libido is a Sign of Overall Well-Being

Picture
Libido as a Window into Your Health
Many people think of libido as just a reflection of sexual desire, but in reality, it’s a key indicator of overall health. If your sex drive has taken a backseat, it may be your body’s way of signaling that something is off—whether it’s hormone imbalances, metabolic health, stress, or even sleep quality.

At Magnolia, we take a whole-body approach to wellness, helping you uncover the root causes behind changes in libido and supporting you with personalized care.

The Connection Between Libido & Metabolic Health
Your metabolism and libido are more closely linked than you might think. When your body is in a state of balance—hormonally, nutritionally, and metabolically—your libido is more likely to be strong. But when something is out of sync, desire can diminish.
  • Blood Sugar & Hormones: Insulin resistance, blood sugar imbalances, and inflammation can throw off estrogen, testosterone, and cortisol levels—hormones that play a key role in sexual health.
  • Weight & Energy: Carrying excess weight, especially around the midsection, can contribute to hormone disregulation, fatigue, and sluggish metabolism—all of which can impact libido.
  • The Role of Micronutrients: Nutrient deficiencies (like zinc, magnesium, and B vitamins) can affect mood, energy, and hormone production, all critical for a healthy sex drive.

Libido as a Reflection of Energy, Mood & Vitality
Think of libido as a barometer for how well your body is functioning. When things are working optimally, you feel vibrant, energized, and connected to yourself and your partner. When they’re not, libido is often one of the first things to decline.
  • Fatigue & Stress: If you’re constantly drained, it’s no surprise that intimacy feels like a low priority. Chronic stress increases cortisol, which can suppress testosterone and estrogen, reducing libido.
  • Mental Health & Mood: Anxiety and depression can significantly impact desire, and in many cases, so can certain medications used to treat these conditions.
  • Inflammation & Chronic Conditions: Conditions like PCOS, thyroid dysfunction, and autoimmune disorders can all play a role in dampening libido. Addressing underlying inflammation and root causes can often help restore vitality and desire.

What to Do When Stress & Lifestyle Factors Are Affecting Your Intimacy
If you’re experiencing a drop in libido, the good news is that there are many ways to support your body and restore balance.
  • Addressing Hormonal Imbalances: If estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone are out of sync, personalized medical guidance can help bring them back into balance.
  • Optimizing Nutrition & Movement: Fueling your body with nutrient-dense, anti-inflammatory foods and engaging in movement that feels good (without overdoing it) can improve metabolic health, energy, and libido.
  • Managing Stress & Sleep: Prioritizing stress management and getting quality sleep (at least 7–9 hours per night) is crucial for regulating hormones and improving overall well-being—including libido.
  • Seeking Holistic Support: Whether through hormone testing, functional medicine, or a personalized metabolic reset, Magnolia’s approach helps you uncover the root causes and find solutions that work for your body.

A Whole-Body Approach to Feeling Your Best
Your libido isn’t just about intimacy—it’s a reflection of your overall health. If you’ve noticed shifts in your desire, energy, or mood, it’s worth digging deeper. At Magnolia, we take a holistic approach to wellness, helping you uncover the root causes behind these changes and guiding you toward solutions that support your whole body.

At Magnolia, we recognize that every body is different, and that means every approach should be different too. We offer a variety of solutions tailored to your unique situation, ensuring that your care is as individualized as you are. Whether you’re looking for support through comprehensive lab testing, Magnolia's 12-Week Metabolic Reset, our Perimenopause & Hormone Optimization Program, Libido Program, supplements like Mixhers, and beyond, we have the tools to help you feel your best. Our goal is to provide a space where you feel heard, seen, and never dismissed—because your health deserves to be taken seriously.

The Medical Gaslighting of Women’s Sexual Health

Too many women walk into their provider’s office, muster up the courage to talk about their declining libido, and leave with nothing but a dismissive response. "That’s just aging." "It’s normal." "Try to relax." Sound familiar?

Low libido is often waved away as an inevitable part of getting older, as if women should just accept the loss of connection, energy, and vitality as their new normal. But here’s the truth: Libido is not just about sex—it’s a sign of overall health, and when something feels off, it is off.

The dismissal of women’s sexual health concerns isn’t just frustrating—it’s harmful. It leaves women feeling unheard, unsupported, and stuck without real solutions. At Magnolia, we refuse to accept that narrative. Your concerns are valid, and they deserve more than a brush-off.

Your Symptoms Are Telling a Story—We Listen
If your libido has tanked, your body is trying to tell you something. Maybe it’s hormonal shifts, chronic stress, inflammation, or nutrient deficiencies. Maybe it’s a combination of factors. Whatever the cause, you deserve a provider who will take the time to find out, not just tell you to "deal with it."

This is where the right approach makes all the difference. At Magnolia, we take a whole-body perspective—because a healthy libido isn’t just about one hormone or one quick fix. It’s about balance, vitality, and you feeling your best.

Real Solutions, Not Dismissals
If you’ve ever been told to “just relax” when you know something is off, we see you. And we’re here to help. Whether it’s optimizing hormones, addressing metabolic health, or supporting your nervous system, our approach is built on science, personalization, and most importantly—listening to you.

Your health, your vitality, and your libido deserve to be taken seriously. If you’re tired of being dismissed, let’s change the conversation.

Beyond the Scale: The Truth About Weight Wellness, Skin Health, and Real, Lasting Results

2/18/2025

This month’s blog explores three key elements of lasting transformation—because wellness goes beyond the scale. Learn how weight wellness impacts skin health, why GLP-1s are a tool (not a magic fix), and how VI Peels refresh post-winter skin. Keep reading for expert insights and real solutions to help you look and feel your best!

Beyond the Scale:

How Weight Wellness Impacts Your Skin and the Aging Process

Picture
At Magnolia Aesthetics and Wellness, we believe true wellness means addressing the body as a whole. The connection between weight wellness and skin health is complex, rooted in metabolic processes, inflammation, and hormonal balance.

The Science Behind Weight Wellness and Skin Health
Your metabolism does more than burn calories—it fuels every cell in your body, including your skin. A sluggish metabolism can leave skin looking dull, dry, and less resilient, while a well-supported metabolism promotes collagen production, hydration, and cellular repair for that healthy, radiant glow.

Chronic inflammation, often driven by stress, poor diet, and gut imbalances, speeds up aging by breaking down collagen and increasing oxidative stress. Hormonal shifts, like elevated cortisol from stress or insulin resistance, can trigger breakouts, redness, and early signs of aging.

How Magnolia Provides Real Solutions
At Magnolia, we don’t do one-size-fits-all. We start with a comprehensive look at your metabolic and hormonal health to uncover the root causes behind your concerns. From personalized nutrition plans and stress management to gut health support, we create tailored strategies to reduce inflammation, boost metabolism, and enhance skin health.

When medically necessary, we provide guidance that may include prescribing medications for metabolic support and hormone balance. Our aesthetic treatments—like chemical peels and microneedling—work hand-in-hand with these internal improvements to refine skin texture, tone, and resilience.

Why Choose Magnolia?
At Magnolia, we don’t believe in quick fixes. Our holistic approach ensures that every client receives personalized care, addressing metabolic health, inflammation, and hormonal imbalances for sustainable weight wellness and radiant skin. Our compassionate, expert guidance empowers you to achieve lasting results through thoughtful, science-backed solutions.

Expert Tips for Radiant Skin During Weight Wellness:
  • Keep your skincare routine simple, clean, and effective.
  • Stay hydrated to support cellular function.
  • Eat a nutrient-dense diet rich in antioxidants.
  • Follow a consistent skincare routine with SPF.
  • Incorporate stress-relieving activities like yoga or meditation.

Your health and skincare journey is personal, and at Magnolia, we get that. We’re here to listen, understand, and offer personalized care that meets you where you are. Ready to take the next step? Book your consultation today and let’s create a plan that’s right for you.

GLP-1s Are a Tool, Not a Magic Fix

GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy are everywhere right now—and they can be highly effective. But at Magnolia, we believe they’re just one piece of the puzzle. Real, lasting change comes from having the right support, personalized care, and a plan that works for your body and your life.
Picture
Weight Gain Is More Than Just Calories In, Calories Out
As a Nurse Practitioner in Minneapolis, working with women every day, I see the full picture. Weight gain isn’t just about overeating or not exercising enough—it’s about inflammation, hormones, metabolism, and so much more. GLP-1s can help suppress appetite, but they don’t teach you how to nourish your body, balance your hormones, or create sustainable habits. Without addressing the root causes, the weight often comes right back once the prescription stops.

Why Medical Guidance Matters with GLP-1s
More importantly, using GLP-1s without proper medical guidance can be harmful. Without monitoring, people risk muscle loss, nutrient deficiencies, and other complications that can impact long-term health. That’s why at Magnolia, my approach is different. If GLP-1s are part of your journey, I’ll make sure they’re used thoughtfully alongside real food nutrition, stress management, and personalized lifestyle support. I’m not here to hand you a quick fix—I’m here to help you heal, build resilience, and feel like yourself again!

A Personalized, Sustainable Approach to Health
I listen. I care. And I’m committed to helping you achieve real, lasting results with or without medication. Because you deserve a plan that works for your body, your life, and your long-term health.

Let’s Find the Right Plan for You
If you’re ready to stop chasing quick fixes and start building sustainable health, let’s talk. I’m here for you.

With Love!

Michelle's Ride Or Die

My Go-To for Glowing, Healthy Skin This Spring

Picture
As a Nurse Practitioner specializing in women's wellness, I’ve worked with so many women who just want to feel good in their skin without overcomplicating the process. After months of winter dryness, indoor heating, and environmental stress, our skin is often left dull, dehydrated, and uneven.

VI Peels are my ride-or-die treatment every spring because they gently remove that tired winter layer, revealing fresh, glowing skin underneath. I recommend them to my clients at least once a year for maintaining healthy, radiant skin. They consistently deliver transformative results, evening out skin tone, reducing fine lines, improving texture, decreasing acne scarring, smoothing large pores, and removing spots and skin tags.

VI Peels are classified as medium-depth chemical peels, penetrating through the dermal-epidermal junction to the papillary dermis. Unlike superficial peels that only address surface issues, VI Peels exfoliate deeper, lifting hyper-pigmented skin cells, smoothing texture, and promoting healthy cell regeneration. This process not only brightens the skin but also reduces fine lines, acne scars, and uneven tone, making them perfect for post-winter skin renewal. The science behind VI Peels ensures real, lasting change for all skin types.

Here’s what to expect with a VI Peel:

Treatment time:
About 30 minutes.

Downtime:
Peeling typically starts around day 3 and lasts 5-7 days, so plan ahead.

Benefits:
Brightens complexion, softens fine lines, reduces acne scars, and improves skin texture.

What I love most about VI Peels is their versatility and accessibility.
My holistic approach at Magnolia ensures that every treatment, including VI Peels, is part of a bigger plan for overall wellness. I’ve seen firsthand how combining personalized skincare, nutrition, and lifestyle support amplifies the benefits of these peels.

One of my favorite moments is seeing a client’s excitement after their first peel – like the woman who told me she finally felt comfortable going makeup-free for the first time in years. These transformations remind me why I do what I do. Peels are budget-friendly compared to many other treatments, yet they yield exceptional results with minimal time investment. For me, it’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about helping women feel confident and radiant in their skin.

While VI Peels do require downtime as your skin sheds and regenerates, the results are ALWAYS worth it. And if you need something with quicker recovery, SkinPen micro-needling is another fantastic option.

Spring is the perfect time to invest in yourself. Let’s peel back the layers, refresh your skin, and reveal that glow you’ve been waiting for. I’d love to help you create a personalized plan that fits your skin’s needs and goals.

Book your VI Peel at Magnolia this March and enjoy $50 off!

Your skin will thank you—and so will your future self.

Happy Glowing!

Radiance at Every Stage: Hormones, Habits, and Skin Confidence

1/21/2025

This month’s blog dives into three transformative topics to help you feel confident and radiant.
First, discover how perimenopause affects your skin and learn expert tips to adapt to its changing needs. Next, rethink New Year’s resolutions with a focus on sustainable habits that truly stick. Finally, explore why facials and a simple, effective skincare routine are your ultimate go-to for healthy, glowing skin.
Keep reading for insights and inspiration to support your wellness journey!

The Perimenopause-Skin Connection:

How Hormonal Changes Impact Your Glow

Picture
Perimenopause is a time of transformation, bringing unique changes to your body and mind—and an incredible opportunity to embrace your evolving beauty! As you navigate this phase, your skin tells part of the story, reflecting the shifts happening within. While much of the conversation around perimenopause focuses on internal symptoms like mood swings or hot flashes, its effects on your skin are just as significant.

How Hormonal Changes Affect Your Skin

During perimenopause, fluctuating hormone levels—especially declining estrogen—can profoundly impact your skin. Here’s how:
  • Dryness and Dehydration: Estrogen helps maintain the skin’s moisture levels. When levels drop, your skin may feel dry, tight, and less able to retain hydration.
  • Loss of Firmness and Elasticity: Estrogen also stimulates collagen and elastin production. With declining levels, the skin’s support structure weakens, leading to sagging and fine lines.
  • Thinner Skin: Reduced collagen levels can cause the skin to become thinner and more delicate, making it more prone to damage.
  • Dullness: A slower cell turnover rate means dead skin cells accumulate on the surface, resulting in a lackluster complexion.
  • Increased Sensitivity: Hormonal fluctuations can disrupt the skin’s natural barrier, leaving it more prone to redness and irritation.
If your once-plump skin is starting to feel thinner or drier, know that you’re not alone. These changes are part of a natural process, and there are ways to nurture your skin through them.

Our Inside-Out Approach to Skincare
Hormonal changes, lifestyle, and daily habits all influence your skin’s health. At Magnolia, we address both internal and external factors to uncover the root causes of skin concerns—like hormonal imbalances, stress, or nutritional deficiencies. By looking beyond the surface, we create personalized, holistic plans that nurture your skin and overall wellness, empowering you with effective tools to achieve lasting results.

Solutions for Glowing Skin: Our Recommended Treatments
As your skin changes, regular, targeted treatments can help you feel refreshed, rejuvenated and GLOWING while addressing these challenges head-on. Some of our top recommendations include:
  • Magnolia Glow Facial: Deeply hydrates and revitalizes your skin with a powerful infusion of Vitamin C, Glutathione, and Hyaluronic Acid. Optional Dysport/Botox can further refine pores and create a "glass skin" finish.
  • Magnolia Advanced Facial: Combines deep cleansing, gentle exfoliation, and targeted treatments to address concerns like aging, dullness, or dehydration. Tailored products from GlyMed Plus and Prakash Organics leave your skin refreshed and glowing. These treatments are designed not just to pamper but to deliver visible results, helping your skin adapt beautifully to this phase of life. The Truth About New Years Resolutions

Every January, many of us feel inspired to make changes. We set resolutions to improve our health, routines, or goals, hoping for a fresh start. While these intentions come from a place of hope and motivation, they can sometimes feel overwhelming when life gets in the way.

Rather than focusing on drastic overhauls, I encourage a gentler, more sustainable approach. True transformation happens when we focus on small, meaningful shifts that add up over time. As I often remind my clients, "Wellness is rooted in balance—it’s about creating a life that supports your goals without overwhelming you."

Why Quick Fixes Can Feel Overwhelming
It’s tempting to think we need to change everything all at once. But extreme routines—like intense workout schedules or cutting out entire food groups—often lead to burnout. That doesn’t mean resolutions are bad; it’s about how we approach them. Wellness is about balance and finding what works for your life, every day.

For example, imagine you’re in Italy, enjoying delicious pasta, wine, and cheese. It’s an incredible experience to savor, but would you want to eat like that every day? Probably not. Balance means embracing indulgences when they feel right while also returning to habits that nourish and sustain you long-term.  Each year, I visit the Movara Retreat to reset and realign my habits. It’s an experience that pushes me physically while giving me the space to refocus on what matters most. I leave feeling stronger, both in body and mind, with a renewed commitment to the small, daily practices that help me thrive. That’s what balance looks like to me.

Start Small, Think Big
Real change happens in the small, consistent actions we take daily. Begin with habits that feel manageable and meaningful:
  • Commit to 15 minutes of movement a few times a week.
  • Add a glass of water to your morning routine.
  • Practice a few minutes of deep breathing or mindfulness daily.

A wellness lifestyle isn’t about rules or restrictions. It’s about living in a way that supports how you want to feel—physically, emotionally, and mentally. It’s about enjoying the pasta and wine but also knowing when to return to habits that make you feel your best.

A Compassionate Start to the New Year
As we approach the New Year, there’s no need to overhaul your life in one big leap. Instead, ask yourself:
  • What small change could make a meaningful difference in how I feel?
  • How can I build on that habit in a way that feels good to me?

Sustainable habits don’t just create change—they create a lifestyle. And that’s the ultimate goal: a life that supports your well-being every single day.

With Love!

Michelle's Ride Or Die

Facials & Simple Skincare

Picture
Let’s get one thing straight—taking care of your skin isn’t a luxury. It’s a necessity. Regular facials and a simple, clean skincare routine are my ride-or-die because they keep your skin healthy and glowing.

Here’s the truth: your skin deserves the same attention you give to your hair, nails, or anything else in your life. Think about it—it’s what you present to the world every day. Yet, so many of us push it to the bottom of the list. One thing I prioritize investing in is facials—here’s why they’re a must for me:

1- Skin Health:
Facials hit the reset button—removing dead cells, unclogging pores, and creating the perfect foundation for glowing, healthy skin.

2- Anti-Aging Power:
Derma-planing and peels are game-changers. They smooth, brighten, and soften fine lines, giving you that lit-from-within look.

3- Winter Glow & Hydration:
Surviving a Minnesota winter isn’t easy on your skin. Facials replenish lost moisture and revive your complexion when you need it most.

4- Self-Care:
Between work, kids, and relationships, life can be overwhelming. Facials aren’t just about looking good—they’re about carving out time to feel good in your own skin.

But here’s the catch: even the best facials won’t deliver lasting results without a consistent daily routine. Aggressive treatments like peels and derma-planing can work wonders, but without giving your skin the regular care it deserves, the results won’t stick.

It doesn’t take a 10-step routine or the trendiest products—just keep it clean, simple, and consistent. You deserve to feel radiant, confident, and proud of your skin. Make facials and at-home care your norm, not your exception. Prioritize your face like the powerhouse it is.

Your skin will thank you—and so will your future self.

Happy Glowing!

Metabolic Health Strategies for Women Navigating Perimenopause

12/18/2024

This season, Magnolia invites you to prioritize wellness and vitality with strategies that support your body and mind through life’s transitions. From exploring metabolic health during perimenopause to discovering the transformative benefits of the Magnolia 12-Week Reset, our curated insights are designed to empower you!

Thrive Through The Holidays:

Metabolic Health Strategies for Women
Navigating Perimenopause

Picture
The holiday season is filled with joy, gatherings, and indulgent treats, but it can also bring challenges for maintaining metabolic health—especially during perimenopause, when hormonal fluctuations can impact energy levels, weight management, and overall well-being. Here are six evidence-based strategies to help you navigate the holidays with confidence, balance, and vitality.

Holiday Strategies to Maintain Metabolic Health

1. Embrace Balanced Indulgence
The holidays are meant to be enjoyed—and yes, that includes indulging in your favorite festive treats! Instead of restricting yourself, aim for balance. Pair indulgent foods with nutrient-dense options like lean proteins, healthy fats, or fiber-rich vegetables to stabilize blood sugar and support your energy levels. For example, savor a slice of pie alongside a salad packed with spinach, walnuts, and a light vinaigrette.

Mindful eating is key: chew slowly, savor each bite, and allow yourself to enjoy the moment. Research shows that when we approach food without guilt or rigid rules, we’re less likely to overeat and more likely to feel satisfied both physically and emotionally.

2. Plan Ahead For Success
The holiday hustle can disrupt even the best routines. Planning ahead helps you stay on track without feeling deprived. Start your day with a nutrient-packed breakfast—like a smoothie with protein powder, spinach, and berries—to support your metabolism and prevent cravings later.

If you’re heading to a party, eat a small, balanced meal beforehand to avoid arriving overly hungry. And don’t underestimate the importance of hydration! Dehydration can mimic hunger and exacerbate fatigue, so keep a water bottle handy and consider sipping herbal teas or infused water for variety.

3. Manage Holiday Stress
Stress is one of the biggest disruptors of hormonal balance, and during perimenopause, its effects can feel magnified. Elevated cortisol levels from stress can lead to weight gain, especially around the midsection, and impact sleep quality.

Incorporate stress-management practices into your daily routine. Simple activities like a 10-minute meditation session, a brisk walk in the fresh air, or even journaling can lower cortisol levels and improve your mood. Apps like Calm or Headspace can provide guided meditations, while deep breathing techniques like the 4-7-8 method are quick and effective ways to reset.

4. Move with Joy
The holidays are busy, and sticking to a rigid workout routine might not be realistic. Instead, find ways to move that bring you joy and fit seamlessly into your day. Dancing at a holiday party, walking through a winter light display, or doing a quick yoga session at home are all excellent ways to stay active.

Movement not only helps manage stress but also supports hormonal balance and boosts your mood by releasing endorphins. During perimenopause, it’s especially important to prioritize activities that make your body feel good rather than focusing solely on calorie burning.

5. Prioritize Quality Sleep
With late-night gatherings and busy schedules, sleep often takes a back seat during the holidays. However, sleep is essential for metabolic health, hormonal regulation, and overall well-being. Poor sleep can increase cortisol and disrupt appetite-regulating hormones like leptin and ghrelin, leading to increased cravings and weight gain.

Create a bedtime routine to signal to your body that it’s time to wind down. This might include dimming the lights, journaling, or taking a warm bath. Avoid heavy meals, caffeine, and alcohol close to bedtime, as they can interfere with sleep quality. Aim for 7-9 hours of rest whenever possible to allow your body the chance to recharge.

6. Lean on Support
You don’t have to navigate the holiday season alone. Whether it’s leaning on friends and family for emotional support or joining a wellness program for guidance, having a support system can make a world of difference.

Consider enlisting the help of a healthcare professional or wellness coach who understands the unique challenges of perimenopause. They can provide tailored advice and accountability to help you stay focused on your goals. Online communities and local support groups can also offer encouragement and shared strategies to navigate this season with grace.

Embracing Joy & Balance this Holiday Season

The holidays are magical—a time for connection, celebration, and creating memories. But let’s not sugarcoat it: they can also be overwhelming. The stress, the over-scheduling, the constant tug-of-war between indulging in the season’s delights and staying true to your health goals—it’s a lot.

Here’s the thing: balance isn’t about being perfect; it’s about being intentional. It’s about finding that sweet spot between saying yes to the joy of the season and honoring what your body truly needs.

Our bodies are already doing so much for us, especially during perimenopause—navigating hormonal shifts, managing energy levels, and adapting to the demands of daily life. When you layer on the emotional, physical, and mental challenges of the holidays, it’s no wonder so many of us feel stretched thin. But here’s the good news: we can approach this season with grace, not guilt.

So, what does balance actually look like?
It’s savoring your favorite holiday treats while giving your body the nourishment it craves.
It’s knowing when to say yes to joy and when to say no to preserve your energy.
It’s making rest as much of a priority as gift shopping and party planning.
It’s asking for help—because let’s be honest, none of us are meant to do it all.

Here’s the truth: Health is a long game. The holidays won’t make or break your wellness journey—it’s how you bounce back, reset, and return to your goals that matters most.

At Magnolia, balance is at the heart of everything we do. This holiday season, let’s make space for joy, protect your rest, and honor the incredible work your body does every single day. Because when you show up for yourself, you’re able to show up fully for the people and moments that matter most.

If I had to pick one product to rave about this month, it would have to be the Prakash Organics Unrefined Brilliant C & E Complex. This little bottle of goodness has become a cornerstone of my skincare routine—and for good reason.

Here’s why it’s a game-changer:
  • The unrefined Vitamin C works wonders to brighten and even out my skin tone, leaving it looking refreshed and radiant.
  • Vitamin E delivers intense hydration, keeping my skin smooth and nourished, especially as the colder months set in.
  • It’s all-natural, vegan, and free of anything unnecessary, which aligns perfectly with my clean, holistic approach to skincare.

I love how seamlessly it fits into my daily routine—no fuss, just results. It gives me that dewy, makeup-free glow that makes me feel like I’m truly taking care of my skin, not just covering it up.

If you’ve been searching for something to elevate your skincare game, this is it. Trust me, your skin will thank you!

1. Mindful Eating for Balance & Enjoyment
The holidays are a time for delicious indulgences, but mindful choices can make them guilt-free and enjoyable:
  • Pause and Savor: Slow down and truly enjoy the flavors of each bite. You’ll feel satisfied without overindulging.
  • Plan Ahead: Balance holiday meals by starting your day with light, nutrient-rich choices like fresh veggies, lean proteins, and healthy fats.
  • Stay Hydrated: Keep water close and drink a glass before meals to support digestion and reduce unnecessary snacking.
  • Be Mindful with Alcohol: Alternate festive drinks with water or mocktails to stay hydrated and energized.
  • Check-In Before Seconds: Ask yourself, “Am I truly hungry?” A moment of reflection can help you make choices that feel good later.

Why Self-Care Isn’t Selfish: A Holiday Motto We Need

Picture
Self-care isn’t about extravagant indulgences or fleeting luxuries. It’s about showing up for yourself in meaningful ways so you can show up fully for the people who matter most.

The truth is, self-care is an act of love, not just for ourselves but for our families, our communities, and the spaces we hold together. It’s a way of grounding ourselves in the chaos, giving us the strength to offer compassion, presence, and connection to those around us.

Redefining Self-Care: Small, Impactful Actions
Self-care isn’t a one-size-fits-all formula. It’s deeply personal and rooted in what feels restorative to you. The most impactful acts are often simple, accessible, and free:

  • Connect with uplifting people: A heartfelt conversation can reset your mood and refuel your spirit.
  • Prioritize rest: An extra hour of sleep or a quiet moment of reflection can work wonders.
  • Move mindfully: Yoga, a brisk walk, or stretching lowers cortisol and lifts your mood.
  • Breathe deeply: In moments of overwhelm, let your breath anchor you in the present.
  • Create meaningful rituals: Turn daily routines into grounding moments, like savoring your morning coffee or ending the day with a gratitude list.
  • Set boundaries: Protect your energy by saying no to what doesn’t serve you.
  • Celebrate yourself: Acknowledge your wins, big or small, and honor your worth beyond productivity.
  • Seek help when needed: Self-care sometimes means reaching out for support—you don’t have to do it alone.

These small, intentional actions can lead to healing, joy, and balance—especially during the busy holiday season.

The Stress-Skin-Metabolism Connection
Stress doesn’t just affect your mood—it also affects your body. Elevated cortisol, the “stress hormone,” can cause:

  • Breakouts: Increased oil production clogs pores.
  • Inflammation: Conditions like rosacea and eczema can flare.
  • Accelerated Aging: Collagen and elastin decline, leading to wrinkles and reduced elasticity.
  • Hair Thinning: Chronic stress affects hair health over time.
  • Metabolism Slowdown: High cortisol disrupts food metabolism, contributing to stubborn weight gain.

The good news? Small, consistent steps can help you manage stress and its effects.

Tapping Into Self-Care

If stress feels overwhelming, start small:
  • Spend 5-10 minutes in morning meditation or mindful breathing.
  • Move your body with a yoga session or a brisk walk.
  • Try sound baths or visualization exercises to calm your mind.
  • Carve out time to rest and recharge—your well-being deserves it.

The Magnolia Approach to Self-Care
At Magnolia Aesthetics & Wellness, we believe self-care is a journey—one that evolves with your needs. From refreshing your skin with a Magnolia Glow Facial to managing stress or exploring our 12-Week Metabolic Reset, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

This holiday season, let’s redefine self-care as a priority, not an afterthought. Because when you care for yourself, you create the space to give your best to the people and moments that matter most.

What does self-care mean to you? Let’s talk about it—I’d love to hear.
